WELCOME tO
orange f.o.o.d week
so f.o.o.d week turns 21!!
i participated at the first F.o.o.D affair back in 1991 – when it
was held at the orange regional gallery Forecourt – and if
i remember correctly, there were some 7 or 8 wineries and a
couple of local producers, a butcher bbq’ing sausages & steaks
and me – trying to replicate a French Café!!
How things have changed.
The F.o.o.D Week Committee now organises six events, including
F.o.o.D Central and our newest event, Forage – thanks to the
wonderful support of NSW DPi.
We are still a voluntary committee, and all of us continue in this
capacity because we are passionate about our area and what
comes out of it!! The steady rise of our wines in reputation, the
exponential rise in production of our vineyards over the last
21 years and the continued excellence of our produce, fan the
flames of our passion. The great work that Taste orange does
to market and promote all facets of our area are testament to us
all in the orange district who strive for excellence in any of the
component parts that make our area so wonderful and attractive
to both visitors and residents.
our producers have had an up and down year – the end of a
10 year drought over the last 18 months has brought good and
bad – two wet grain harvests, two smaller cherry crops and a
very damp vintage in 2011 – but bumper apple crops and great
livestock production. By the skin of our teeth our F.o.o.D Week
events were terrific in 2011 – let’s hope the weather gods are as
kind in 2012.
The F.o.o.D Week Committee welcomes all to the 2012 F.o.o.D
Week, the event holders, the out of town guests, the local
residents and the stallholders and wineries. The combination
of the above has made F.o.o.D Week the longest running and
arguably the most successful regional event in NSW (at least).
Eat and drink (sensibly) and have a wonderful F.o.o.D Week in 2012.
regards,
