54 <strong>International</strong> <strong>Conference</strong> on the Status and Future of the World’s Large Rivers 11‐14 April 2011, Vienna Useful Information Banking Opening hours are, in general, Mon, Tue, Wed, Fri 08:00 – 15:00 and Thu 08:00 – 17:30. Lunch breaks are from 12:30 – 13:30. Cash Mashines / ATMs (“Bankomat”) can be found all over the city. Climate / Weather In April, the weather in Austria is unpredictable, so be prepared for warm, cold or even rainy spells. The average temperature is 10‐15°C. Credit Cards <strong>International</strong> credit cards are accepted in cash machines (ATM), hotels, restaurants and most shops, as well as car rental agencies. Credit cards will also be accepted at the registration desk. Currency The Euro is the official currency in Austria. Exchange facilities are offered to participants at ATM or at the exchange desks of banks. The majority of shops and restaurants accepts credit cards. Electricity In Austria electricity is supplied at 230 V, 50 Hz. Euro plugs and plugs type E/F fit into the sockets. Insurance Registration fees do not include insurance of any kind. It is recommended that delegates arrange for appropriate travel and health insurance prior to travelling. Internet Access Internet cafes are available all around the city. Many hotels offer wireless LAN in their rooms. During the conference we will provide all attendees with a password to access wireless LAN at the venue (in Foyer G/H and Room G/H). Language The official language is German. English is widely spoken.
