EMG Electrodes
1. Autoclavable concentric EMG needles
The EMG needle electrode is designed for easy insertion of the
needle into the accompanying highly flexible needle cable, the
connection is non-interchangeable. The active electrode consists
of a coated platinum wire, which is connected to the pin in the
needle cable. The reference electrode has a high-grade steel
cannula, which makes contact with the internal jack of the highly
flexible needle cable through the split pin bushing. The internal
and external contact jacks are electrically insulated from each
other.
4
Each needle is supplied with a polysulfone sleeve, autoclavable
to max.138° C, which is placed on the needle after use to protect
it. This prevents contact with the needle after sterilisation as
well.
Handling:
The needle only requires insertion in the needle holder of the
connection cable. The correct polarity and a good electrical connection
must be ensured through the use of special gold-plated
precision contacts.
EMG disposible needle electrodes
Our high-quality sterilised needle electrodes consist of an
insulated platinum wire / steel wire in a stainless high-grade steel
cannula (AISI 304) and are disposable.
Important note for users of disposable needle
electrodes.
Our disposable needle electrodes are individually sterile packed
and EO sterilised. The needles may only be used more than once
on one patient. Do not straighten bent needles, replace them with
anew one instead. The expiry date is stated on the packaging.
The recording surface is 0.02 or 0.07 mm2, depending on the
size of the needle. They are supplied exclusivfely in packs of
25.
The packaging must be inspected for any damage before it
is opened. Do not sterilise it again. Dispose of used needles
immediately.
Shielded connections cables for concentric EMG needle electrodes
The same highly flexible and shielded needle connection cables
are used for disposable and reusable needles.
The needle only requires insertion in the needle holder of the
connection cable. The correct polarity and a good electrical
connection must be ensured through the use of special precision
contacts.
The coloured bushes on the needle holder make it easy to distinguish
the pin assignment on the 5-pin DIN connector 270°.
The metal ring is grounded (earthed) to the amplifier and
earthed to the patient. This earths the doctor and eliminates
the transmission of any 50 Hz interference from the user to the
patient upon contact.
Injection cannulas and cannula connection cable
The injection cannulas (with a Luer lock syringe connection) are
used in pairs to inject e.g. Botulinum A Toxin with simultaneous
EMG derivation. They are coated with PTFE (Teflon) in the middle
section of the needle shank for insulation, in such a way that
potentials are derived solely on the uninsulated tip of the needle.
These potentials are tapped at the top of the needle shank via
a highly flexible cable with mini clips. A surface electrode may
be used as a reference. The injection cannulas with a protective
sleeve are autoclavable at max. 138°C.
Important advice on sterilisation
Our reusable cannulas are supplied unsterilised. The needles
must be autoclaved before each use (e.g. in a high-pressure
steam sterilizer at max. 138°C for at least 10 minutes).
All cannulas should be cleaned before sterilisation and rinsed
well with water to remove biological residues.
