Spanish/Culture – 6 th , 7 th , 8 th grade
The students have been using their
knowledge of Spanish descriptive
adjectives to unscramble sample
messages and then answer questions by
writing their own message. They are
learning a variety of vocabulary words,
which will make speaking Spanish a lot
more interesting. They are presently
working on pen pal letters with a
partner. They will be including
information on descriptions of
themselves and what they like to do,
etc.
It should be very interesting to read
their letters. Everybody is making an
effort to do well in Spanish!
Primary – Spanish
We continue to review Spanish
numbers and are learning the larger
numbers up to 100.
I used a book to teach the children all
the colors in Spanish, which also
showed pictures of things that specific
color. As I walk around the room and
point to various objects, the children
say the color in Spanish. They are all
learning the vocabulary very quickly
and are enthusiastic learners!

ELL UPDATE
ACCESS Testing started this month.
The students are working very hard.
Score reports should be sent home by
early Spring. Testing will be done by
the end of January, and normal ELL
classes will resume right after. I am
looking forward to working with my
students again!

NEWS FROM THE
INTERMEDIATE/JH CROSS-CAT
CLASSROOM
This month has been very busy! We have
worked on a service project with Ms.
Wach’s room in order to raise money for
Shriners Hospitals for Children. To do
this, the students worked on creating
ornament kits for the Holidays that they
could sell to their peers. This worked on
money skills, social skills, and fine motor
skills. The students took great pride in
their work and were able to raise over
$117.00 dollars for charity! Way to go!
In Ms. Baumann’s room we have been
working on finishing our Number the
Stars novel study and our journal
responses accordingly. Our class is also
finishing our letter writing unit which
included writing cards to the soldiers
overseas. We will finish this unit by
completing a formal letter to someone in
their family that they appreciate very
much. What a busy month ahead!
