Finance<br />

Finance is a modern and fascin<strong>at</strong>ing discipline<br />

dealing with money, markets and valu<strong>at</strong>ion<br />

th<strong>at</strong> is relevant to all aspects <strong>of</strong> business and<br />

personal and pr<strong>of</strong>essional planning. There are<br />

few businesses today th<strong>at</strong> are not acutely aware<br />

<strong>of</strong> the significance <strong>of</strong> markets and financial<br />

planning for their viability. Pr<strong>of</strong>essionals in<br />

finance are involved with a myriad <strong>of</strong> issues in<br />

investments, planning and risk.<br />

Finance provides a framework for weighing<br />

risks and rewards, and develops essential<br />

problem solving skills. It system<strong>at</strong>ically analyses<br />

inform<strong>at</strong>ion and uses it to make and test<br />

predictions. However, because these activities<br />

are not exact there is frequently no ‘right’<br />

answer. Therefore, intuition and experience play<br />

a strong role.<br />

contributes to the uncertainty th<strong>at</strong> is inherent in<br />

Finance and th<strong>at</strong> helps to make it a challenging,<br />

yet highly rewarding career.<br />
