Winter hiking On the Sassweg trail, you'll experience winter hiking from its most beautiful side, either alone or together with your children. In about an hour from Malbun, after passing ice flowers and snow-covered trees, you’ll reach the highest point on the Sassfürkle. It’s an undemanding hike via the Sass Alp down to the Schneeflucht lift and back home. That wasn't enough? Snow hikes are also possible on the Philosopher's Path (Philosophenweg) or the Schwemmiweg trail. And those who still haven’t had enough can explore the alpine world on snowshoes. 26 Cross-country skiing in the Valüna Valley At the end of the tunnel on the way to Malbun, a small and idyllic cross-country skiing paradise with 15 km (10 miles) of trails awaits you in Steg at 1300 meters (4265 feet) elevation. Four different types of trails for beginners and advanced crosscountry skiers are prepared, both for classical skiing or skate skiing. Those who like skiing by moonlight are also in luck: The three-kilometer (two-mile) long, illuminated night trail will make you star-struck. And whoever wants to discover the sport of cross-country skiing is in the right place at the Cross-Country Ski School. www.valuenalopp.li Sledding fun Sledding is in and is a part of winter fun. Walk from Steg to the Sücka Alp, sit down on your toboggan, and away you go, your hair blowing in the wind! The natural toboggan run is 1000 meters (about 3300 feet) long and can be navigated at night, thanks to illumination. Before the lightningfast run, the cozy mountain restaurant beckons you to eat and drink. You can also toboggan in Malbun, for instance on the Turna-Malbun toboggan run. SUN AND SNoW Upswing and downswing Do you love steady ascents in seclusion and solitary descents in powder snow? Our snowy mountain landscape is the ideal place for short and long ski tours. Children and adults romp around on the natural ice field in the village. Some enjoy taking their spins around the rink while others pirouette elegantly around their own axis. Rental skates are available. Enjoying yourself in comfort Enjoying yourself in comfort is multifaceted in Malbun. Relax in the sauna, steam bath, or solarium, strengthen your muscles in the fitness room or in one of the hotel swimming pools, or treat yourself to a head-totoe beauty treatment. Or how about a game of curling while your children romp through the children’s afternoon program?
