30 Contributions Photos by Dennis Wood (October 2009) Murat Shriners Business Connection Scholarships Murat Shriners Business Connection awarded three $1,000 scholarships to Garrett Wilson, Corey Scott, and Erika Schillings. Each recipient is joined by their families in accepting their checks which were presented by MSBC members Don Richards, Ned Cline, and Robert Hudson. Joining in the presentation ceremony is our Illustrious Potentate, George Proctor. Garrett Wilson Potentate George Proctor welcomes the Most Worshipful Grand Master for the State of Indiana to the Murat Shrine October Stated Meeting. Grant Mumford from Murpah Shrine Club gives Potentate George Proctor a $500 check for the Transportation Fund. Corey Scott Erika Schillings Treasurer Buddy Antle from the Brown County Shrine Club hands over a $100 check for the Children’s Christmas Party to Potentate George Proctor. Potentate George Proctor receives two checks from Veteran Car Club members Phil Free and Fred Johnson. One is in the amount of $500 for the Transportation Fund. The other is $100 for the Children’s Christmas Party. Drillmaster Bill Pike of the Police Club Drill Team is joined by Rick Lane, Randy McMains, Fred Golgart, Tom Bond, and Willard Payne in the presentation of a $250 check for the Transportation Fund to Potentate George Proctor. Potentate George Proctor accepts a check for $800 for the Transportation Club and one for $100 for the Children’s Christmas Party from Henry County Shrine Club’s President Tom Dinkins and Club members Tim Shaw, Harold Hedges, and High Priest & Prophet Charlie Crabtree. Putnam County Shrine Club President John Jackman, along with Club members John Blaydoe and Bill Cockrell, hands over a check for the Shriners Hospitals to Potentate George Proctor in the amount of $3,050.31. 500 Club Potentate George Proctor is presented with three checks from the Tri-County Shrine Club. The first is for the Transportation Fund in the amount of $16,000. The second is for the Shriners Hospitals in the amount of $5,000. The third check of $1,500 is for the Children’s Christmas Party. Participating in this presentation is Club President Bill Chandler and Club members Dave Disponett, James Disponett, and Dan Hines. Jerry Lance Well, the 2009 parade season is officially over and our parade chairman, Dan Price, stated we had 21 parades this season. It was a good summer of parading and the final activity was at the track on October 10. Good times were had by all. The 500 Unit had 10 cars and the Mini-Mystics had 12 cars. Also, our brother nobles from Ft. Wayne joined us with their mini-Indy cars led by their potentate, David Yarde. They had nine cars in the big lap around the track. After a roaring lap around the track, we all were off to the Brickyard Restaurant for breakfast. It was a good morning. Thank you, Bruce, for putting it all together. In other news, dues notices will be coming out along with new officers for 2010 and planning for the events of the year. We also will be thinking of ways to get more cars parading. Our incoming president, Mike Wagner, has informed me he has lots of ideas and activities planned for 2010. Let’s all come to the December meeting to greet your new officers and pick up your new directory. A big thank-you to Bruce Raymond, our outgoing president, for putting together our tours and track days. Also, thanks to the following for the countless hours getting the directory ready and to print: Cathy Raymond for helping Bruce, Rodger Stafford, and Mike Wagner. So members, all that is left is to come to the December meeting, vote, meet your new officers, and pick up your new directory. Thanks to all the members for making 2009 a good year. Let’s get behind our new officers and make 2010 the best of the best. Wishing all members and their families the best Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Until next time.
