VP390/VP400 in <strong>Firewall</strong> Environments<br />

<strong>Firewall</strong> <strong>Configuration</strong> in OVO<br />

Special <strong>Configuration</strong>s<br />

VP390 <strong>and</strong> VP400 consists of an agent component that runs on the<br />

mainframe <strong>and</strong> a server component that h<strong>and</strong>les all communication<br />

between agent <strong>and</strong> server as shown in Figure 1-6.<br />

The agent TCP subtask requests the opening of two TPC/IP ports on the<br />

mainframe, then waits for the VP390/VP400 server component to start<br />

communication through these ports. All connections between these<br />

components are initiated from the server but data may be sent from the<br />

agent to the server (in the same way as messages being sent to the<br />

message server). The communication is based on TCP sockets.<br />
