Blackpool & Fylde <strong>Electric</strong> Day by John A Thompson This must be the fifth or sixth time I have attended this event and it has always been a pleasure. They are such a friendly bunch, making everyone welcome, and organising things without any fuss. One advantage is the barbecue, which is not only good and cheap, it is free to pilots. The Weeton site was in first class condition with the grass well mown, and the Club have acquired a superb clubhouse complete with toilet, a bonus for us oldies and the ladies. After the unfortunate incident last year the Club had banned any charging in the car park, and provided two heat resistant tables on the flightline for charging LiPo packs, a wise precaution. The weather was initially overcast with a stiff chill wind off the Blackpool seafront, but gradually brightened up during the day. A vast selection of models were flown ranging from the simplest ARTF to a Sunderland and even Lancastrian. A large Mustang with retracts flew well, but was spoilt in my opinion by the caricature Prince Charles in the cockpit. The raffle featured a (dare I say it) glow powered model as a prize, which had been built by the club as a project. All in all a grand day out, well done lads. E.F.-U.K. 25
