KEEPING IN
TOUCH
the CUTC holiday email chatlist
It’s a familiar situation. You’ve spent
the whole glorious year as an active
CUTC member, participating in trips
and parties while neglecting your studies
(till the week before exams) but
now you’re leaving Christchurch for the
summer holidays. How do you keep
in touch with everyone while you’re
away? Simple! Use the CUTC chat list.
Here you can organise trips in any part
of the country and exchange tramping
related information. Whatever you
send to the chatlist gets sent to everyone
on the list. If you haven’t already
subscribed (it actually runs throughout
the year) then check out www.cutc.
org.nz/lists/index.html for info. Note
that the chat list is different from the
weekly info emails that all members get
on Tuesdays. You MUST SUBSCRIBE
to the chat list to participate. Once
you’ve subscribed, sit back and watch
the emails flood in.
Here is a typical chatlist email:
Yo everyone
man, doesn’t holiday working
suck?? i’m currently
stuck here in milford as
chief submarine commander
but will have 2 weeks off
starting dec 30th and am
really keen to get outdoors
to do some tramping The
plan is to surface, drive
to Te Anau, walk the Kepler,
then head over to
16 CANTERBURY UNIVERSITY TRAMPING CLUB
queenstown for the new
years party on the waterfront.
if anyones going to
be in the area and wants to
join me and is tall blonde
single and can swing a sack
of doorknobs then call me
021 BIGDUDE.
cheers
bd
To which a typical reply might be:
Hi there Big Dude
Oh yes, I’d love to join
your trip. It sounds so
awesome. I come from Sweden
and aren’t too sure
with swinging whole doorknobs
sack all by myself
but reading the rest of your
description I think we’d
get on very nice. I also
have twin sister Klara and
we do everything together.
She are interested in coming
too if that is OK… It
will be so nice to have a
Kiwi man look after us both
in bush. Will call you…
Sven
