once upon a Fairy Tale

Twas the night before Bushball and up at Awakino ski-hut,
it was cold and quiet but food was prepared and decorations up.
The social officers had worked hard to create the scene,
for a night filled with fun and ‘magic’ tricks, you’d know if you’d been.
Do you see the hut’s rainbow and pot of gold way up high
Under the balcony from which you see a castle on clouds in the sky,
Come closer, walk the red carpet, and see Alice’s white rabbit inviting you
To follow him to wonderland, and if that doesn’t excite you…
Decorations like balloons, stickers, sparkles, flowers and toys,
Rapunzel and a money tree -chocolate coins for girls and boys.
Tables set for a feast -butterflies, glitter and bubble-blowers,
“BUT WHERE IS THE FOOD AND ALCOHOL?!” demanded party-goers.
There was wee willie winkie, witches, wizards, and frogs,
even Dorothy, the tinman, and the lion from Wizard of Oz!
Shrek, genies, fairies, the Hulk and the big bad wolf ‘Uh-Oh’,
edible gingerbread house and beanstalk costumes, and even Pinocchio.
