Rector’s forward<br />

Succeeding the Engineering Institute that was been functioning since 1972, the<br />

„<strong>Aurel</strong> <strong>Vlaicu</strong>” <strong>University</strong> of Arad, enlarged its activity in May 18 th 1990, establishing<br />

new specializations that came into direct relationship with economic environment and<br />

regional traditional professions. As a result over<br />

90% of the <strong>University</strong> graduates are working in<br />

the fi eld and honor our institution.<br />

All 38 <strong>University</strong> specializations: Technical,<br />

Economical, Sciences, Humanistic, Educational,<br />

Social Work, Sport and Design are in agreement<br />

with European Union and U.S.A. academic<br />

standards.<br />

Since 1999, The European Credit Transfer<br />

System (ECTS) has been introduced, making<br />

possible for the students to choose a direction of<br />

study according with their expectations and labour market development. The ECTS<br />

assure recognition of their studies in European Union Universities, for our students<br />

as well as for foreign students which are study in here, when they turn back home.<br />

The strategy of our <strong>University</strong> requires a dynamic management, a quality management,<br />

focusing over the true values of the humanity.<br />

For the last few years, the „<strong>Aurel</strong> <strong>Vlaicu</strong>” <strong>University</strong> of Arad, has gained a real<br />

prestige, being recognized in the Romanian academic community, due to the efforts of<br />

the academic staff, the educational quality and the fi rst for knowledge achievement.<br />
