Jamie Reid at RGU:Union
Written by Lindsay Drysdale
Jamie Reid, a student of Aberdeen College and
aspiring musician, has a sound that rivals the
great acoustic musicians of today. Reid moved
from Wick to Aberdeen to attended Aberdeen
College in order to develop his sound. He stated
that Aberdeen College was amongst one of the best
Colleges in the country, so where better than the
Granite City to learn how to perfect his technique.
Aberdeen was also ideal for the young musician for
gigging purposes. There is a greater potential for
gigs in Aberdeen than there are in Wick and Reid
makes full use of these opportunities. If you have
liked Reid’s music page on Facebook (which I’m
sure you will after reading this) you will see that
he is always plugging his own gigs, which occur all
over Scotland, in a bid to get his name out there. As well as gigging all over the
country, Reid also has an EP out called Persevere; which can be purchased at any
of Reid’s gigs or you can listen to it on his Facebook music page. Reid is hoping
to be back in the recording studio very soon and plans to release another album
in May.
Over the next year Reid plans to complete his College course and, hopefully,
continue on to do Music at University as well gigging all over Scotland. He has
high hopes for festival season, having made
contact with several festivals and has plans to
return to the Belladrum stage for a second
year running.
You can catch up with Jamie on Facebook for
future events.
Big Brother auditions
2012: Luke Mcleod’s experience
Written by Georgina McGurk
Luke Mcleod, aged 17 and studying at Aberdeen
College, applied for Big Brother 2012 and
got through to the auditions, which are taking
place in Glasgow on the 25th and 26th of February.
Luke explains the process:
“I had to go through an application form about
myself online and make a video about myself. I
then got a call back saying I had got through to
the auditions in Glasgow next week!”
Big Brother has been something Luke has always
wanted to do since he was little, “I would love to
get on, just for the experience!” Luke already has
some ideas about what he will do if he gets in to
the Big Brother house and if he wins Big Brother 2012: “if I get into Big Brother I
will go dressed as a baby and not speak for the whole first week, just do ridiculous
things. If I won Big Brother, I would have a massive party!”
Luke has also set up a Facebook page for those who want to support him and
has 172 likes already! If you want Luke to get in to Big Brother 2012, show your
support at: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Luke-Mcleod-for-Big-brother/141964285920089.
Good Luck Luke!
