For the 2011-2012 school year, our theme is “Make Me an Instrument of Your Peace.” As St. Agnes PeaceBuilders,
we want, like Jesus, to reach out and touch the lives of others with the gift of PEACE. The St. Agnes PeaceBuilders’
Program is three years old. The goals of this program include: creating a healthy and safe environment conducive to
learning, developing positive relationships, and teaching nonviolent attitudes, values and beliefs. Are not these the
Gospel values that our Catholic schools teach? Is this not what we pray when we sing: “Make me a channel of Your
peace; where there is hatred, let me bring Your love;
where there is injury Your pardon, Lord.”
You are invited to join our St. Agnes
students, staff and parents as we daily pledge to be
PeaceBuilders…
I am a PeaceBuilder.
I Pledge…
-To praise people
-To give up put-downs
-To seek wise people
-To notice and speak up about hurts I have caused
-To right wrongs
-To help others
I will build peace at home, at school and in
My community each day.
Wishing you peace,
“Peace be with you…”
John 20:19
Dear Friends of St. Agnes School,
Peace is a pervasive theme woven throughout
the Gospels. In Luke’s telling of the birth of Jesus,
a multitude of the heavenly host proclaim to the
shepherds near Bethlehem, “Glory to God in high
heaven and peace on earth to those on whom his favor
rests.” After the Resurrection, Jesus appeared to the
frightened apostles in the Upper Room and bestowed
the gift of peace. Peace is God’s gift to us. Peace
in the scriptures is more than calm and the absence
of violence and confusion. Peace is God’s vision in
everything that a person needs to be fully human. To
wish God’s peace for another means a willingness to
do what I can to bring that about, in other words, to
be “peace builders.”
In this issue of Spirit we wish to acknowledge and thank so many persons who have contributed to the 2010-2011
Annual School Fund. Your contributions enabled our school to install new playground equipment in the first phase of
creating “PeaceBuilder’s Place”, a tribute to the PeaceBuilder’s Program that is part of our St. Agnes School atmosphere.
Thank you so very, very much! And may the peace of the Lord be with you always!
Blessings,
Fr. Bob
