Below Right: Beta Omicron Delts from Cornell University with their first Hugh Shields flag since 1996. 10 | THE RAINBOW p SPRING 2012 Multiple chapters and individuals receive awards The division conferences allowed members of the Fraternity to come together to celebrate those who help contribute to the Delt cause. Both chapters and individuals were honored for their dedication and service to the Fraternity. The following awards were presented during the 2012 Division Conferences. Highlights of the awards presentations included the 47th year of presenting the Hugh Shields Award to the top chapters in the Fraternity. The Hugh Shields Award is consider the Fraternity’s highest chapter distinction. Notable recipients included Iota Epsilon Chapter at Chapman University and Epsilon Omega Chapter at Georgia Southern University receiving their fourth consecutive Hugh Shields Awards and Delta Delta Chapter at University of Tennessee receiving its first Hugh Shields in the history of the chapter, coming just three years after being rechartered in April 2009. Gamma Pi Chapter at Iowa State University earned its 22nd Hugh Shields Award, more than any other chapter since the award was first given in 1966. The following 11 chapters were named “first among equals.” Ten awards are presented annually, however 11 were presented during the 2012 Division Conference season due to a tie. 2011 Court of Honor Chapters The Court of Honor typically recognizes the top 20 chapters each year as reviewed through the Fraternity Accreditation and Awards Report (FAAR).
