Josh Schneider named Western
Plains Division President
A highlight during the Western Plains
Division Conference included the swearing
in of new Western Plains Division
President Josh Schneider (Texas State
University, 1998) by International President
Alan Brackett after former division
president Bob Marwill (University of
Texas, 1959) stepped down from his position
to focus on his role as Karnea local
committee chairman. Schneider will
serve as division president through the
February 2013 term.
In addition to the many officer positions
he held as an undergraduate at Zeta
Delta, Schneider has served as a chapter
advisor at Theta Delta Chapter at Baylor
University as well as a division vice president
and a house corporation
president.
New Look to Conferences
The division conference curriculum
had a makeover this year. The redesign
included three areas: developing tracks
for certain officers and leadership skillbuilding,
rewriting the breakout sessions,
and inviting more campus-based student
affairs professionals to participate in the
conferences as facilitators. The feedback
has been very positive and the Fraternity
staff is already working on ways the conferences
can be further enhanced next
year.
Every chapter leader needs training
to be successful in his position. The
question is – how should each officer be
trained? We posed that question to
students and alumni and, based on their
feedback, it was clear that five officers
needed face-to-face training. Those positions
were president, treasurer, recruitment,
new member educator and Guide.
