REPORTS<br />
Reports for senior students have been posted and next<br />
Friday the reports for junior students will be posted. The<br />
holidays will be a good time to talk with your son about his<br />
progress and discuss any issues, positive or negative, in the<br />
development towards achieving better results.<br />
SKI TRIP<br />
Best wishes to those participating in the annual ski trip to<br />
Wanaka. I need to clarify a few points regarding this trip.<br />
Although it takes place in the holidays and some parents<br />
accompany their sons, it is important to realise that the<br />
students do represent HIBS. Behaviour and attitude will<br />

• At the North Island Secondary<br />
<strong>School</strong>s Swimming<br />
championships Callum Brigden<br />
came 1st in the 100m butterfly<br />
and 50m butterfly and 2nd in the<br />
50m freestyle. Nicholas Berry<br />
came 3rd in the 200m freestyle.<br />
Also the 4 x 50m freestyle relay<br />
team of Kallum Sullivan, Timothy<br />
Fraser, Mark Jesson and Callum<br />
Brigden came 3rd.<br />
• Andre Brown played in the<br />
Wellington Regional Brass Solo<br />
and Party competition. Out of<br />
four categories entered, Andre<br />
placed 2nd (1 point behind Toby<br />
Pringle playing the Cornet) in the<br />
Under 16 Air Varie playing the<br />
Bass in the Ballroom on Eb Tuba,<br />
1st in Junior Percussion and 1st in<br />
Junior Duet (playing Capriccio<br />
with Toby Pringle - Cornet and<br />
Tuba).<br />
• Andre Brown also won the Upper<br />
<strong>Hutt</strong> Youth Culture Award at the<br />
Inspire: Upper <strong>Hutt</strong> Young<br />
Achievers Awards for <strong>2012</strong>.<br />
• Prashan Casinader has been<br />
selected as one of about 40<br />
students in New Zealand to attend<br />
the National Shakespeare Youth<br />
Company camp in Term 3.<br />
• At the Regional Young Singer in<br />
Harmony competition the quartet<br />
of Sam Coad, Cameron Collins,<br />
Aaditya Bhamidipati and Joshua<br />
Fonacier were selected for the<br />
finals. Also the chorus of Timothy<br />
Fraser, Logan Church, Aaditya<br />
Bhamidipati, Brandon Couch,<br />
Alfred Hoi, Joshua Fonacier,<br />
Cameron Collins, Kees<br />
Rozenberg, Sam Coad, Henry<br />
Cassin, Jordan Felderhof and<br />
Samuel Purchas made it to the<br />
finals. Both groups will compete<br />
against other secondary schools<br />
from around New Zealand for the<br />
National title in Auckland in<br />
September.<br />
• Jamie Booth has been selected in<br />
the New Zealand Under 19<br />
Underwater Hockey team.<br />
• James O’Reilly and Jack Ross have<br />

directly reflect upon the <strong>School</strong> and I expect this to be of<br />
the highest standard.<br />
Mr Keys has put a tremendous amount of effort and<br />
planning into this trip and I wish him and the participants<br />
all the best.<br />

High Performance Secondary<br />
Rugby Squad.<br />
• Finn Bamber, Franco Ashton and<br />
Caleb Hewson have been selected<br />
for the Under 13 <strong>Hutt</strong> Valley<br />
Representative Rugby team and<br />
will be representing <strong>Hutt</strong> Valley at<br />
the Central Zone Rugby<br />
tournament in Wanganui over the<br />
school holidays.<br />
• Jacob Campion, Cameron<br />
Ferriera, Samuel Champion,<br />
Joshua Southall, Jesse Tashkoff<br />
and Joshua Nydam have been<br />
selected for the Under 12 <strong>Hutt</strong><br />
Valley Representative Rugby<br />
team.<br />
• Jacob Campion was placed 3rd for<br />
11 year old boys at the Capital<br />
Coast Junior Surf series, surf<br />
lifesaving for Lyall Bay.<br />
• Tim Robertson was the winner of<br />
the under-19 Vosseler Shield race<br />
at Mt Victoria in May.
