Welcome to the 84th AHIMA Convention and
Exhibit, and AHIMA’s hometown, Chicago!
In light of our theme “Next Stop to Health
Innovation,” the Windy City—a town known
for promoting growth, change, and big ideas—
is an appropriate place to meet . As Chicago
architect Daniel Burnham reportedly said,
“Make no little plans . They have no magic
to stir men’s blood and probably will not
themselves be realized .” Let’s get ready to dream big and make some
magic this week!
A great convention has been designed for you . AHIMA is committed
to delivering cutting-edge programming, like the new Health
Information Innovation Leadership Conference and our Educator’s
Forum . We’ve continued our formula for convention success too .
We’ve invited intriguing and inspirational speakers, like artist and
educator Regina Holliday, who will speak and share her ideas on
health information through words and paint; Chief Privacy Officer
Joy Pritts of the ONC; and Dr . John Kenagy, speaking on success and
innovation in healthcare . You’ll also enjoy a career- and knowledgeenhancing
selection of educational sessions and exhibitors focused on
addressing our nation’s most important challenges . As a special note,
I’d like to thank Nancy Coffman-Kadish, MS, RHIA, CAPM our program
chair, and the Convention Program Committee for their excellent
work in selecting and arranging the educational programming for
this year’s convention! And special thanks as well to our wonderful
sponsors and exhibitors!
The convention is also a time to recognize the leaders who are
creating the future, today . Don’t miss celebrating this year’s Triumph
Award winners, as well as the first recipients of the AHIMA Grace
Award and AHIMA and AHIMA Foundation Innovation Award!
Show your support for today’s innovators, while getting a glimpse of
tomorrow’s leaders!
Finally, we work hard, but it’s important to play hard too . Find a
