The Guideline looks at the principles of performing a<br />

fire risk assessment in a place of work . It gives better<br />

fire risk management <strong>and</strong> better control over the fire<br />

hazards .<br />

The Guideline contains different requirements<br />

concerning guidance signs, emergency lighting <strong>and</strong><br />

general lighting .<br />

This Guideline helps with the planning, execution<br />

<strong>and</strong> maintenance of fire safety for individuals with<br />

weakened ability .<br />

The Guideline shows how to calculate a safe distance<br />

between buildings <strong>and</strong> waste containers . With<br />

the guideline it is possible for owners <strong>and</strong> occupiers<br />

of premises to prevent fire in a container to spread<br />

into close building .<br />

This guideline emphasises the importance of providing<br />

information <strong>and</strong> education for young people,<br />

to deter them from committing arson . It deals with<br />

the general principles of that approach <strong>and</strong> does not<br />

cover technical measures .<br />

9:2005 F <strong>Fire</strong> safety in restaurants The Guideline is concerned with fire safety in<br />

restaurants . The measures in the guideline will<br />

improve the st<strong>and</strong>ard of fire safety in the restaurant .<br />

The principles outlined are not necessarily applicable<br />

in the case of fast food outlets, some open fronted<br />

restaurants, etc .<br />

10:2008 F Smoke alarms in the home This Guideline describes how to install smoke<br />

alarms in dwelling units . It gives guidance for the<br />

choice, locations <strong>and</strong> maintenance of the different<br />

types of smoke alarms <strong>and</strong> explains the principles<br />

of operation of the different detectors included in the<br />

alarm units .<br />

11:2005 F Recommended number of fire protection<br />

trained staff<br />

This Guideline specifies different levels of training<br />

<strong>and</strong> also makes recommendations about how many<br />

persons in a company that should have those levels<br />

training . Different types of companies are given in<br />

the guideline .<br />
