Happy New Year from
Field Court C of E Infant School
As we write, Christmas Plays are being rehearsed and the corridors are showing
the first layers of sparkly glitter as preparations are being made for Christmas. The
Christmas Fair started the celebrations where our Choir and Samba Clubs entertained
everyone and Father Christmas was extremely busy. Thank you to everyone
who came along and supported the event and especially to the members of the PTA
who organised it.
Magnet Man wasn’t such a Super Hero when he visited
YR. He had lost all his magnetic powers and came to ask
them for help. The children quickly got out some magnets
and searched their classrooms to find items that were magnetic
and non-magnetic. Besides having a great time, they
discovered that the magnets stuck to all the metal objects
which meant they are magnetic!
Y1 had a brilliant time at Gloucester Folk Museum. “We went into an old school room
and sat at the old wooden desks that had ink wells in them while Mrs Spencer taught
us some maths using an abacus!” “Our teachers also played some old playground
games with us such as ‘The Farmer’s in his Den’ and ‘Sticks & Hoops’. Most of the
old toys were made of wood and string which is very different to the ones we have
today. We really enjoyed our visit and thought it was very interesting” they reported.
Y2 made models of old houses to re-create the
Great Fire of London. They placed the houses
on the playground quite close together just like
the houses in London were built back in 1666.
A fire was started in the Bakery and they all
watched as the wind blew the flames. They
couldn’t believe how quickly the fire spread,
burning down all the houses!
We would like to wish Quedgeley News and all its readers a
peaceful New Year.
