MISSION STATEMENT OF JLSP:
The Junior League of St. Petersburg is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential
of women and improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Its purpose
is exclusively educational and charitable.
The Junior League
of St. Petersburg has
definitely made a
positive impact on
my life. It's really
opened my eyes to
opportunities for
volunteerism that I
never knew existed.
I'm so thankful to
now know about
these volunteer opportunities,
as it's
been truly a joy to
volunteer at Care
Fair, Clothes to Kids
and other various
Community Outreach
and Kids Create
events during
my time thus far in
the League. Most
specifically, I love
working and interacting
with the kids
at many of these
events. I think they
have just as much
positive impact on
my life as our events
to do on them!

What is your mission moment?
Sharing stories of the JLSP mission in action
Kara Bond
The Junior
League of St.
Petersburg is
always evolving.
When I
first joined the
Junior League as
a teacher, I was
searching for a
group of women
with similar
interests that
enjoy giving
back. Now that
I am a stay-athome
mother,
the Junior
League for me is
my outlet to
continue educating
and donating
my time to
a greater
good. I have
found a home
with the
League. As my
life continues to
evolve and
flourish, I know
that it will always
hold a
special relationship
with the
Junior League.

My friends like to ask me
what my weekend plans are
at the last minute and my
answer usually is, “I’m volunteering
at a Junior
League event, want to
come?” The next question
they ask is, “What is the
Junior League?” In my response,
I seem to unintentionally
start reciting the
League’s mission statement.
Philanthropy, volunteering
and leadership have always
been in my heart and the
Junior League of St. Petersburg
has allowed me not
only to hone my skills, but
also put me in contact
with strong, independent
women in the community
who have quickly become
my role models and mentors.
The League has also
provided opportunities for
me to personally have an
IMPACT on my community
and to see, first hand,
the impression that the
League leaves on people’s
hearts.
Katie Mulford
I see the Junior
League mission
acted out constantly.Anytime
I hear of a
member's accomplishment,
or outstanding
service, it
makes me
proud to be
associated with
such a strong
group of women.
So many of
us stick our
necks out to
help not only
the community,
but each
other. We are
truly a group
that has not
only the want
to help others,
but the
need. The mission
has also
made me realize
my own
potential, and
that I truly can
do anything I
put my mind
to.
Candy Winkler
I recently volunteered at
the Great Explorations
Match Event. This was a
function to introduce
children who are ready to
be adopted to people who
are ready to become
adoptive parents. As with
many events I have participated
in since joining the
League, I left this one
feeling like I gained more
from the experience than
I contributed. It was
moving to see how happy,
outgoing, and sweet the
children were, despite all
the heartache they have
experienced in their short
lives. It's very easy to get
caught up in the small
things we have going on
in our own lives, but
events like this always put
things back into perspective.
And like the Match
Event, so many events and
organizations the Junior
League is involved with
serve as reminders of
what's truly important in
life. The personal growth
that comes with voluntarism
strengthens our ability
to be strong leaders
and community members.
Rishaun Wilson
As I read the mission
statement, I notice
the many components
that make Junior
League such a
powerful organization.
The first
thought that comes
to mind when hearing
“power and
strength” is a strong,
muscular body (okay
in my mind). However,
our mission statement
proves that
strength and power
are not only physical,
but mental as well.
Every day we balance
several roles such as
friends, mothers,
sisters, girlfriends
(for those in the
dating phase of life),
wives, and community
volunteers. The
JLSP allows us to
learn (i.e: AJLI), teach
(i.e. NM Advisors),
and apply our skills
and talents (i.e. community
events). Our
organization allows
us to combine our
power to impact our
community. I am so
honored to belong
to the JLSP. Ladies,
continue to strive
for physical and
mental power!
