Easylock concept
The EasyLock® System makes it possible to choose the
direction of the screw within a range of +/- 10° from the
axis perpendicular to the plate and ensures immobilisation
at the end of tightening. The insert configuration
makes it possible to get a DCP effect if necessary.
The screws are integrated into the plate by means of
the inserts made of PEEK-Optima®, which give the
assembly certain flexibility, thus avoiding any osteolysis
around the screws. Removal of the equipment is
made easier by the use of standard 6-sided screwdriver
patterns.
No extra surgery time, and at the end an assembly
which is fully locked and in one piece, guaranteeing
perfect primary stability. Any risk of migration of the
screws is eliminated.
The Omnitech® range
The Omnitech® system is a set of screws which are used in several Biotech systems. The range includes four types of
screws used in the treatment of Scarf, Akin and Weil osteotomies.
This concept is a unique feature in hallux valgus surgery.
Thanks to the Omnitech® set, all surgical operations on the foot are possible. A full range of screws from 1,7 mm to
7,00 mm, all cannulated.
Biotech International is constantly innovating and developping
new orthopaedic systems to meet the market
demand.
Thus, the DRV plate is an osteosynthesis system for distal
fractures of the radius.
As for the Xpode® Carpal set, it offers greater possibilities
for treating arthrodesis thanks to its four new shapes of
cups.
Finally, the Omnitech® Hand system is a set of screws and
instruments more specifically designed for hand surgery.
And many others to be discovered during the year...
Elix®
The Elix® system is a system with screws and an angulated ated locking plate system for tibial opening ost osteotomy.
It consists of plates, screws and bone substitute:
The Elix® plate (PE350xxx) is intended to treat tibial osteotomy cases
thanks to a wide angulation choice according to requirements and there- therefore
allows perfect adaptation to patient anatomy. These anatomical plates
are made of stainless steel (316 LVM) and have an angulated lated screw locking
system. Also, the PEEK-Optima® inserts ensure screw locking g by self-tap-self-tapping
effect while permitting a choice of angulation for the screws.
The screw is locked onto the plate by means of the self-tapping conical
inserts.
This system makes it possible to angulate the screw with regard to the
plate by +/- 10°.
No part, no extra gesture is necessary for this manipulation.
The Elix® system is used with the EasyLock® VE53XX screws, non cannulated self-tapping
5,3 diameter screws(lengths from 24 to 40 mm every 2 mm and from 40 to 75 mm
every 5 mm)/ Their proximal self-tapping thread under the conical head ensures screw
locking to the plate.
These screws are made of titanium (TA6V ELI).
The VE53XX are sold non sterile.
Dual
Bon Bone substitute:
Thi This system also requires the use of a synthetic bone substitute,
Cro CrossBone® Dual (cf. page 24 : Bone substitute). This substitute
com comes in the form of a fully synthetic bi-porous wedge. It consists of
a central c macroporous area with interconnected pores for fast
ost osteosynthesis, and a dense peripheral area for high mechanical
stre strength. Unique bi-porous bone substitute available on the
market, its mechanical properties are very close to those of natural
bone.
Indications
The Elix® system is an osteosynthesis system for opening wedge tibial osteotomy. The assembly must
fill its function (resuming of weight-bearing and mechanical constraints) over a period of about 3
months, after which period the focus should normally have consolidated.
New product : Xpode® Carpal
The Xpode® Carpal system is an arthrodesis cup system intended for hand surgery.
The two Xpode®4 system cups : the Xpode®4 range includes an 18 mm diameter 9-hole plate and a 22 mm
diameter 10-hole plate. These cups are made of PEEK-Optima®. The radiolucent property of this material permits
an optimum radiological control. Furthermore, the mechanical characteristics of the PEEK are similar to those of
natural bone. (They are multi-positionable, which means that they have been designed to respond to requirements
concerning hand, foot, or ankle surgery).
C180401
Indications:
C220601
The four new cup shapes :
They increase the possibilities regarding arthrodesis treatment, particularly for 2 or 3 bone arthrodesis, where
the Xpode4 cups were sometimes badly adapted.
C140701 : this is a 14 mm diameter 7 hole cup.
C180401 : this was created from an 18 mm diameter cup. It has 4 holes and is particularly adapted to arthrodesis
of two bones.
C180601 : this was created from an 18 mm diameter cup. It has 6 holes and is particularly adapted to arthrodesis
of three bones.
C220601 : this was created from a 22 mm diameter cup. It has 6 holes and can be used to treat cases of arthrodesis
The Xpode® Carpal system cups are used with the EasyLock® VENPS24XX, 2,4 mm in diameter, non cannulated and
10 to 28 mm long every 2 mm. Using the EasyLock principle makes it possible to choose the direction of the screw
over a range of +/- 10 ° from the perpendicular axis of the cup surface, and ensure locking after screw-tightening.
The screws are made of titanium (TA6V ELI).
They are also available non sterile (VENP24XX) in non cannulated or in cannulated at 0,8 mm, sterile (VES24XX or
Omnitech®
The Omnitech® system is an osteosynthesis system intended mainly for surgery of the forefoot and hand surgery.
The Omnitech® range includes four types of screws used in the treatment of Scarf, Akin and Weil osteotomies. They are a unique
concept in hallux valgus surgery.
The osteotomy screws, P1, Weil, Scarf are compressive conical head screws, ws, a design which ensures locking of the screw on
the last
thread. Furthermore, the risk of fracture is reduced, the compression more e progressive and ablation made easier.
The Omnitech® system screws are made of titanium (TA6V ELI).
They are available in sterile or non sterile version. The nail-plate late is pure T60 titanium. tita anium. an
Green screw (for Weil osteotomies): 2,0 mm diameter
screw, non cannulated and self-drilling. Lengths
available from 11 to 14 every 1 mm.
Blue screw (for phalangeal osteotomy): 2,3 mm
diameter screw, cannulated (k-wires 0,8 mm). The
lengths available go from 12 to 28 mm every 2
mm.
Yellow screw (for metatarsal osteotomy): 3 mm
diameter screw, cannulated (k-wires 0,8 mm).
Lengths available from 10 to 40 mm every 2 mm. The
inter fragmentary compression is maximum, permitting
early return of weight-bearing and« per priman»
consolidation.
Micro nail-plate (for phalangeal osteotomy): my ):
nail-plate and 2,3 mm diameter screws. Lengths hs
available from 11 to 14 mm every 1 mm. This allows ws
extending indications of phalangeal osteotomy to o
bones weakened by previous surgery or serious us
demineralisation, or to operations requiring a lot of
shortening (bicorticalphalangeal osteotomy).
The cannulation of these screws makes their placement easier sier thanks to the K-wire guide.
The implants can be used on a permanent t or temporary basis in the following corrections:
Yellow screws: first radius s Scarf metatarsal osteotomies
Blue screws: first radius phalangeal h l l osteotomies
Green screws: Weil type osteotomies
Grey screws and micro nail-plate : first radius phalangeal osteotomies
Intended for surgery of the forefoot, the Omnitech implants can also have other applications, particularly for
hand surgery:
Yellow or blue screws: scaphoid fracture, scaphoid pseudoarthrosis.
Omnitech® Large
Large
The Omnitech® Large system is an osteosynthesis system for large bone surgery (femur neck, pelvis, tibial plate, calcaneus, sub-talar
arthrodesis).
It comes as a complement to the Omnitech® system in order to extend the osteosynthesis screw system to certain pathologies and
traumas touching the ankle, knee, hip, etc.
This system consists of two ranges of screws, respectively diameters 4,5 5 an 7,0 mm. The 7,0 mm diameter screws are available a with a
16 or 32 mm distal thread.
V71XX / VS71XX : 7,0 mm diameter screw,
cannulated at 2 mm, thread 16 mm.
Available in lengths from :
60 to 64 mm every 2 mm,
68 to 88 mm every 4 mm.
V45XX / VS45XX : 4,5 mm diameter screw,
cannulated at 1,6 mm, thread 16 mm.
Available in lengths from:
26 to 44 mm every 2 mm,
48 to 64 mm every 4 mm.
VS70XX : 7,0 mm diameter screw,
The head of the Omnitech® Large screws is conical. It permits applying ying a high torque which leads to strong compression between betwe the
two fragments.
It increases the contact surface with the cortical, avoids going through ough it and therefore loosing all the compression (which is oft often the
case with a cylindrical head).
Furthermore, the head of the Omnitech® Large screw is threaded, which gives it an anti-return effect (no «back-out»). Cannulation Cannula of
the screws ensures safety in guiding the preparation instruments and placement of the implants.
The distal self-tapping conical part of the screw makes it easier the e insert into the distal fragment of the the second second fragment fragment. Its double d
thread provides a compression effect thanks to the difference in pitch.
The Omnitech® Large system screws are made of titanium (TA6V ELI).
- Blue screw / 4,5 mm diameter: fracture of the tibial plate percutaneously or under arthroscopy, tibia osteotomy and epiphysiodesis,
tibotalar arthrodesis, tibia fracture (epiphysis, diaphysis, metaphysis), talonavicular arthrodesis.
- Yellow screw / 7,0 mm diameter: percutaneous screwing of femur neck fracture, epiphysiodesis of the lower end of the femur,
screwing of an inter condylian fracture, arthrodesis of the torsion torque, sub-talar arthrodesis, tibiocalcaneal arthrodesis.
These screws can also be used in other osteosynthesis indications, in particular for femoral head fractures.
They can be used for direct or guided screwing.
Memotech®
The Memotech® system is a compact system which permits carrying out the most frequent extremities osteosynthesis.
The e system implants are hot shape memory staples, meaning that they take their shape after being heated. There are
two o types of staples which answer to the variety of cases met.
H1
These hese orthopaedic compressive shape memory implants have three main properties.
They hey ensure :
a permanent compression, studied as a function of the implant cross section, encouraging better bone
restoration estoration and reducing pain.
an excellent retention to avoid implant migration after the operation.
a perfect biocompatibility of the titanium based martensitic transformation material, proved by many
studies in various fields such as orthopaedic and vascular surgery.
These staples are available in several lengths:
H2
Bicortical Staple Monocortical staple
Monocortical staple: Lengths 10, 11, 12, 13, 15, 17 mm for an H1 height of 10 mm and
an H2 of 10 mm also.
Bicortical staple: It exists in lengths of 10 or 12 mm. For each of these lengths, three
H1/H2 torques exist: 15/13 mm, 17/15 mm, 19/16 mm.
The Memotech® system staples are made of titanium nickel alloy.
They are delivered sterile on a PE UHMW support base.
The hot shape memory staples are indicated in
the following cases :
Shortening osteotomy
Correction osteotomy
Arthrodesis
Fracture reduction
CrossBone
The CrossBone is an implantable bone substitute, made of 60% hydroxyapatite and 40 % β-tricalcium phosphate. The
very high temperature frittering process and the absence of substances of animal origin eliminate any risk of infectious
contamination.
Its micro-architecture is innovative in that it offers not only a large number of interconnections between the pores, of
which the minimum size is adjusted, but also a very even distribution.
CrossBone comes in the form of blocks and granules, or in a syringe :
Bloc
Dual
Granules
The wedge is recommended for:
Surgical treatment of fractures and pseudoarthrosis
Vertebra arthrodesis
The granules are recommended in cases of:
Cotyloidal reconstruction
Cavity filling
The Cross.Bone blocks and granules play a
part in bone reconstruction in the case of
more or less loss of bone substance. The
blocks can be cut to the exact size need to fill
the cavities.
The Cross.Bone syringe allows bone substitute
to be used in difficult areas to reach and
provides greater precision when filling bone
cavities.
Cross.Bone Dual : This type of bone substitute
comes as a 100% synthetic biporous
wedge. It is surprisingly close to the structure
of natural bone. Indeed, this osteotomy
wedge has a macro-porous central area and a
denser peripherical area. This substitute is
used with the Elix system to fill the tibial
opening osteotomy.
The syringe makes it possible to fill small bone defects. It is used for difficult to reach areas.
