Great supporters of our fund raiser every Year. 8 The Resurrection Merit Awards 2007 recipients with the various leaders of our ministries in the Congregation of the Resurrection. The Vision of Hope Award 2007 was given to the Knights of Columbus – State of Illinois, accepting the award is Phil Barone, State Deputy and his wife Alice with Father Michael Danek, Provincial. The Resurrection Merit Awards 2007. The Veritas et Caritas Award 2007 was given to Father Francis S. Rog, CR, Associate Pastor of St Hyacinth Basilica with Provincial Father Michael Danek, CR. Mr John Janiga with Brother Edward Howe, CR, President of Gordon Tech High School.
9 April 2008 CONGREGATION OF THE RESURRECTION 10th Annual Fund Raiser FOR OUR SENIOR RELIGIOUS AND OUR MEN STUDYING FOR THE PRIESTHOOD AND BROTHERHOOD. Sunday, September 30, 2007 was another great day for the Resurrection Fathers and Brothers. It was the 10th Anniversary of our fund raiser for our Senior Religious and our men in formation. Over these ten years we have raised close to $600,000. dollars to help these two worthy causes in our Religious Community. Again we broke our attendance record of slightly over 600 people. We also chose the White Eagle Banquets in Niles, Illinois, as our place to host this event. It was the traditional Polish style food which people really enjoy. At this event we honored many people from our various ministries who have embraced our mission and charism as a religious community. But the top two awards that are given out each year are the following : The Vision of Hope Award 2007 which went to the Knights of Columbus from the State of Illinois. Many of the knight councils were present at the event. Many of the parishes that we staff in the Archdiocese of Chicago & the Diocese of Rockford have had councils in our parishes for years. We were very pleased to honor them for all the work they do in the United States to promote the cause of Life in all forms from birth to death. It gives us great hope for the future of the church and world. Accepting the award on behalf of the Illinois Chapter of the Knights of Columbus was Mr Phil Barone and his wife Alice. In his acceptance he clearly was touched that the Resurrection Fathers and Brothers would honor the Knights of Columbus with this honor and he said that he would share this with all the other councils in the State of Illinois. The second major award that is given out at this event is the Veritas et Caritas Award 2007, which is an award given to a Resurrection Father or Brother who truly is a brother to his brothers. As Provincial Father Francis Rog, CR truly was a Brother to his brothers and still lives that spirit today. Father Rog, CR in his acceptance speech shared with the group the various decades of service he has performed in the church through his office as priest. The third major award that is given out at the event is the Resurrection Merit Award 2007. This award is given to a person or couple who live out the mission of the Congregation of the Resurrection in the various ministries that we support. Each pastor or leader selects this person and the award is presented at this event by the pastor or leader. This year the following received the award: Phyllis Bernacki from St Stanislaus Kostka, Chicago; James Robaczewski from St Hedwig, Chicago, Ewa & Jozef Jurczk from St Stanislaus, Chicago, Illinois, Bishop and Martyr, Marian Koscielniak from St Hyacinth Basilica, Chicago, Illinois, Lee Andrew Barlow from Resurrection Catholic Missions of the South, Mr Thomas Carpenter from Resurrection Catholic Church, Montgomery, Alabama, +Vivan Brooks Truman from St John the Evangelist Church, Panama City, Florida, Luis Arellano from St Joseph Church, Fontana, California, Dennis Gaynor, from Gordon Tech High School, Bill & Peggy Gilger, Resurrection Center, Woodstock, Illinois, Patricia Rocko, from Resurrection Catholic Church, Woodstock, Illinois, Nora Casillo, St Wenceslaus, Chicago, Illinois, Joan Smith, St Bernadette, Panama City Beach, Florida and Richard Schaefer from St John the Baptist, Johnsburg, Illinois. Once again the Polish Roman Catholic Union of America (PRCUA) has underwritten the dinner and Gordon Tech High School provided the wine on the tables. A big Thank You is in place for all who helped with prizes, and helping in everyway possible to make this a special event. It is a wonderful event every year raising over $64,000.00. The next event will take place On Sunday, September 28, 2008 at Poretta’s Banquets in Chicago, Illinois.
