Private and government NFPOs are affected. Three new CICA application resources are now available for free download. MNP Crush win volleyball tournament The MNP Crush defeated True North Finance & Accounting in a closely contested final to win the PricewaterhouseCoopers Trophy at the Institute’s 17 th Annual Volleyball Tournament. True North took the first set (25-19) and MNP came back to win the next two sets with scores of 25-19 and 16-14. Eight teams participated in the event held at the Universi- té de Saint-Boniface. Thanks to all participants for making this a great event again this year. Carol Bellringer appointed to IFAC Board Manitoba’s Auditor General, Carol Bellringer, FCA, was appointed as a new member of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) Board. Carol replaces CICA President and CEO Kevin Dancey, FCA, whose term on the IFAC Board expired this year. With Carol’s appointment, there are now four professional accountants from Manitoba serving in important roles within IFAC. Considering our province represents 3-4% of the professional accountants in the country, Manitoba is playing an important role in the future direction of the accounting profession on a global basis. Manitoba’s representatives at the international table are: • Carol Bellringer, FCA, IFAC Board • Steve Vieweg, FCMA, IFAC Board • Gary Hannaford, FCA, International Ethics Standards Board for Accountants (IESBA). • Todd Scaletta, FCMA, IFAC’s Professional Accountants in Business (PAIB) Committee Each of these individuals will become a member of CPA Mani- toba once the merger is finalized. IFAC is the global organization for the accountancy profession, dedicated to serving the public interest by strengthening the profession and contributing to the development of strong international economies. It is comprised of 173 members and associates in 129 countries and jurisdictions, representing approximately 2.5 million accountants. The IESBA is an independent standard-setting board that develops the Code of Ethics for Professional Accountants. The structures and processes that support the operations of the IESBA are facilitated by the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC). The PAIB Committee provides leadership and guidance on relevant issues pertaining to professional accountants in business and the business environments in which they work. 09 03
