IMM Marching Band Information Packet
Hello members of the Invincible Marching Marauders Marching band! You are
receiving this email because you are on the roster of fabulous members of the IMM!
Hopefully you are having a wonderful summer and are almost ready to comeback to
school. We have lots of exciting news to share with you in this communication so
keep reading. This is absolutely going to be the best CSU IMM Marching Band in the
history of the school! We have lots of new instruments and equipment, but more
importantly, the students who are in the ensemble this year are the most talented
group we’ve assembled to date. Our potential is unlimited. You are going to be
amazing, your audiences are going to love you, and you’re going to have great fun!
Attached and included on the webpage is an information sheet. You will
need to complete this form, then email or fax it to me as soon as possible. I am
concerned that someone may have been left off of this list or won't check their
email. Please talk to your friends and ask them if they received this correspondence.
Ask them to check their MYCSU email address as well. Information forms are due not
later than July 31. We are going to be writing drill earlier this year, so in order to
have a drill spot, you must submit your information form on time.
2012 Show Concept
This year the 2012 IMM Marching Band will presenting two Productions:
The Music of Stevie Wonder
A prominent figure in popular music during the latter half of the 20th century,
Wonder has recorded more than thirty U.S. top ten hits and won twenty‐two
Grammy Awards. In 1989 He was inducted into the Rock and Roll hall of fame
located in Cleveland, Ohio. Often referred to as the “Musician’s Musician” He has a
very developed sense of harmony and uses many extended chords utilizing
extensions such as ninths, elevenths, thirteenths, diminished fifths, etc. in his
compositions. With our 2012 show we aim to support the ideas of that this great
artist has exemplified through his music.

A Tribute to The Women of Soul
Over the past year the music world has lost many great artists. Our 2012
Homecoming Show will pay tribute to musical legacy of Whitney Houston, Donna
Summer, and Teena Marie. These Women of Soul have exemplified excellence in
music performance and showmanship. Their careers have inspired many people
throughout the world. The Closer for our 2012 Homecoming Show will be both
entertaining and inspirational.
2012 Camp Information
Camp Registration will begin on Sunday, August 5, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. and our
rehearsal will begin at 2:00 p.m. that afternoon
All students are to report to the Paul Robeson Recital Hall promptly at 10:00 a.m. for
camp registration. You will receive your CSU IMM Marching Band Uniform and
Baseball Cap at this meeting, so be prepared with cash or a money order in the
amount of $55. 00. If you don't have white band shoes, you can order those at
Trophy Sports Center in Xenia, Ohio and the cost is $40.00. All students using CSU
Band instruments will be assessed a usage fee of $20 per semester. This will include
marching percussionists. All fees are payable at registration unless you make prior
arrangements. Camp will end Thursday afternoon, August 9 at 8:00 p.m. Leadership
Team and approved members of Tau Beta Sigma may move in on Friday August 3,
2012, Wind and Percussion players a will be allowed to move into your residence
halls on Saturday, August 4 after 12 p.m. Please note that it is your responsibility to
register for housing by July 30, 2012. The Band Office is not involved in this process
and late registrations will not be Honored. University Housing has requested that
we have each student register directly with Housing. Please do not call them on the
phone unless it is absolutely necessary, as this is the busiest time of year for them.
2012 Camp Schedule
All IMM Band members will receive a camp schedule at registration, but for now
You need to plan for rehearsal each day from 7 a.m.‐ 9 p.m. We have one week to
prepare for our first performance so we need to rehearse at optimum efficiency
from the outset of our season. Here are some tentative dates you need to know now:
Bud Billiken Day Parade August 10‐11, 2012
Dayton Football Classic Sept 2, 2012
Cleveland Labor Parade Chicago Illinois September 3, 2012
CSU Homecoming October 3, 2012
Section Specific Information
Percussion, you will be receiving additional information regarding your schedule
From Mr. Goodwine. Your rehearsals will begin early. Please practice the
Exercises and come prepared to audition. Be aware that in the past we have not
been able to place every student who auditioned into the percussion section. It is
Your responsibility to prepare for success.

Leadership Team
Leadership Team, you will be receiving another email from me soon, but you need
to plan on our first meeting Friday, August 3 at 7 p.m. Thanks in advance for
coming in early to help ensure a smooth start to our season!
Items Needed for Camp
You will need to bring your Band Shorts, White T Shirt, tennis shoes (no sandals),
socks, hat, sunscreen, water jug, washrag for ammonia water, instrument (in good
playing condition), supplies like reeds and valve oil, pencil, a HUGE desire to achieve
excellence and HAVE FUN!!!!
Work Study
ATTENTION ALL STUDENTS WHO QUALIFY FOR WORK STUDY! We have a
few openings for student work‐study positions in the band office. If you are
interested, email me as soon as possible.
Final Information
There is still time for you to get your friends involved in the biggest and best
Invincible Marching Marauders Band to date. Have interested parties contact me as
soon as possible or send me the contact information and I will follow up. You are our
best recruiters! This should answer many of your questions for now. Please check
your email early and often for updates. I will be traveling and recruiting for CSU
intermittently, so if you have questions, send me an email or give me a call on my
