Talking Back To The Sarge
____________________________________________________________________
A drill
sergeant was walking past the company barracks late one evening when he
heard voices inside. Angrily throwing open the door, he shouted at the recruits:
“Listen up, maggots! When I say ‘Good night,’ what I really mean is, ‘Shut the
h--- up!’ Understood?”
The room was silent. Satisfied, the sergeant turned to leave.
But before he could slam the door he heard one soft voice in the darkness: “Good
night, Sarge!” (Provided by First Draft)
