in the college desks
once every year or two TenCate geosynthetics USa welcomes students in their final year who wish to get their bearings
in the production and possibilities concerning the design and application of geosynthetics. within this context a group
of students in Civil and environmental engineering at the University of north Carolina (US) recently paid a visit to the
production facilities in pendergrass and Cornelia (georgia, US).

Prior to the visit Fred Chuck (director reinforcement
markets) gave a presentation on the
campus on the diversity of geosynthetics, their
applications and how to distinguish between
the different types of wovens, non-wovens
and geogrids. The visits to the plants in
Jefferson and Cornelia were coordinated and
managed by Bruce Lacina (senior engineer).

For TenCate the most important feature of
such visits is helping to confirm TenCate
Geosynthetics as the authority on the
manufacture of geosynthetics. Attention is also
paid to the practical side, with the universities
being briefed as far as possible about current
projects where geosynthetics are being applied.
The response of the students to their visit has
been very good, and an additional advantage
is that students will be predisposed to value
TenCate positively during their future career.
