He is a tough, fast horse.” Phil Hansen bought LHR Royal Flush for South Lazy H Ranch from Scott Johnson, who had sold him LHR Smooth Jamie May, the Smooth As A Cat daughter that Hansen showed to earn over $250,000 and the title of 2010 NCHA <strong>Horse</strong> of the Year. “I got him as a late two-year-old and he’s been a good horse the whole time,” said Hansen of LHR Royal Flush. “I like his strength and the way he is so fluid through his moves.” Bets Cat, Light Reys, and Quatros A Lena tied with yesterday’s third highest score — 217.5 points. FUTURITY AWARDS PARTY Honoring the Futurity Finalists Saturday, Dec. 10th on the arena floor after the Open Finals EVERYONE IS INVITED! “There’s a little pressure, showing a good one like her,” said Kenneth Miller, who shows Bets Cat, a full sister to Bet Hesa Cat, who currently leads NCHA World championship standings under Austin Shepard. Miller shows Bets Cat, by High Brow Cat, out of world champion Bet Yer Blue Boons, for Gordon Sevig, who purchased her as a yearling out of the NCHA Futurity Sale. Miller, who started riding Bets Cat when he went to work for Sevig in September, credits Dale Bennett and Steve Oehlhof for the mare’s good foundation. R.L. Chartier and his wife, Mica, raised Light Rey, by CD Lights, out of an unshown daughter of Dual Rey. “She’s a quick stopper and real cowy,” said Chartier. “She’s been consistent all year long and she wants to do it, so that’s a good thing.” Chartier won the 2008 NCHA Futurity Ltd Open and placed fourth in the open finals aboard Hay Maker, owned by Scott Cusick.
