CREW<br />
The lightweight double of seniors, Saabi<br />
Markar and Tori Ibrahim Gonzalez, won<br />
silver medals at the Philadelphia<br />
Scholastic Rowing Championships<br />
(PSRA,) the Stotesbury Cup Regatta and<br />
the Scholastic Rowing Association of<br />
America's (SRAA) national championships<br />
in Mercer, NJ in May. The two<br />
won a gold medal at the New Jersey State<br />
Championships in April. They have qualified<br />
for the US Rowing National Youth<br />
Invitational Championships in<br />
Cincinnati, OH in June.<br />
The freshman quad of Elizabeth Asch,<br />
Kaylah Kleczka, Natalie Webb and<br />
Madison Noteware won a gold medal at<br />
the Stotesbury Cup Regatta in May.<br />
The junior quad of juniors, Alison<br />
Callegari, Gabrielle Amundson and<br />
Alison Hoeltzel, and sophomore, Tess<br />
Candell, won bronze medals at the PSRA<br />
Championships and the SRAA<br />
Championships. The junior quad with<br />
Callegari, Hoeltzel, Candell and sophomore,<br />
Maddy Taggart, won a gold medal<br />
at the New Jersey State Championships.<br />

LACROSSE<br />
The <strong>Baldwin</strong> Lacrosse Team finished the<br />
season with a winning record of 18-4<br />
overall and tying for second in the<br />
Inter-Academic League. The team<br />
outscored its opponents 322 to 206 and<br />
finished with a Pennsylvania state ranking<br />
of 12 and national ranking in the<br />
top 100 of 2,364 teams.<br />
Sloan Warren ’11 was one of eight finalists<br />
for the prestigious Heather Albert<br />
Award for the Most Outstanding Player<br />
in U.S. Lacrosse National<br />
Championship held in Bel Air, MD<br />
Memorial Day weekend. She played on<br />
the Upper Atlantic Squad, First Team<br />
that claimed the championship in the<br />
top flight of the <strong>School</strong>girls division.<br />
She scored six goals in the six games and<br />
was noted for her teamwork.<br />
VOLLEYBALL<br />
Kaylah Kleczka ’12 will compete at the<br />
36th AAU Girls' Junior National<br />
Volleyball Championships at Disney's<br />
Wide World of Sports and the Orange<br />
County Convention Center in Orlando<br />
this June. She is a member of the<br />
Delaware Volleyball Under 15’s Open<br />
team.<br />
FIELD HOCKEY<br />
Nicole Wells ’12 has been selected to<br />
play for the Pennsylvania Team in the<br />
U. S. Field Hockey National Futures<br />
Championship, which showcases the top<br />
high school field hockey players in<br />

America. The NFC will be held at the<br />
USA Field Hockey Training Center in<br />
Virginia Beach, VA from June 24 to 28.<br />
She has been playing club indoor field<br />
hockey and on the USA Field Hockey<br />
Futures Program for three years. Brooke<br />
Simone ’11 will participate in the USA<br />
Field Hockey Regional Rumble, also held<br />
in Virginia Beach the same week.<br />
SQUASH<br />
Sami Shein ’11 placed third out of 28<br />
players at the U.S. Junior Bronze Squash<br />
Championships held April 24 to 26.<br />
Alexa Horwitz ’15 won a bronze medal<br />
in the Girls U-13 division at the U.S.<br />
Squash Nationals in April.<br />
ARCHERY<br />
Anjalie Field ’11 placed first in the<br />
Pennsylvania State Archery<br />
Championship this winter. She also<br />
placed first in the region and eighth<br />
nationally in the Junior Olympic<br />
Archery Development (JOAD) Indoor<br />
National Championship.<br />
FALL SPORTS PRACTICE<br />
Mandatory practices for Upper <strong>School</strong><br />
cross country, field hockey, soccer and<br />
tennis begin Aug. 24. Practice times are<br />
as follows:<br />
8/24, 8/25, 8/26, 8/27, 8/28, 8/31 and<br />
9/1: 8 to 11 a.m.<br />
9/2 and 9/3: 3:45 to 6:45 p.m.<br />
9/4: 8 to 11 a.m.<br />
No practice on Labor Day.<br />
After school practices begin Sept. 8.<br />
Teams practice Mondays through<br />
Thursdays from 3:45 to 5:45 p.m. and<br />
Fridays from 3 to 5 p.m.<br />
