Students will be able to go online, enter in the ISBN#’s of the textbooks they would like to sell and create a quote. They will need to bring their textbooks and a copy of the quote to the Baldwin Bookstore between June 1 and June 4 during regular bookstore hours (8 a.m. – 4 p.m.) We take care of the shipping and the check gets mailed directly to you! Information will be sent out announcing when you will be able to begin processing your quotes online. • Customer Loyalty Program: When you purchase your textbooks via the Virtual Bookstore, MBS increases the amount of money you receive when selling back your textbooks at the end of the school year. Also placing in the 95th percentile were eighth graders Jessica Fan, 5th place honors; Amalia Bowen, 6th place honors, and Abigail Grosskopf and Savanna Stanton-Ameisen, 7th place honors. Placing in the 90th percentile were eighth graders Tarlan Daryoush, 8th place honors; Paige Tobin, 9th place honors; and Charlotte Morris, 11th place honors. Placing in the 95th percentile on Level 1B with 6th place honors was Emilie Waché. MATH WINNERS in 15th annual Math Marathon held in April are: Gr. 6 - Vanessa Auritt and Elena Stains; Gr. 7 - Selena Maity and Jamie Schwartz; Gr. 8 - Sonali Singh and Sarah Anne Sun Tupchong. THE MIDDLE SCHOOL'S CHORAL GROUPS, which received top awards May 9 at Hershey Park in the Music in the Parks Competition. The Chorus B-Naturals, and the Eighth Note Singers each received a Superior rating in the Female Ensemble category of the single "A" schools present that day. Sports Shorts CREW The lightweight double of seniors, Saabi Markar and Tori Ibrahim Gonzalez, won silver medals at the Philadelphia Scholastic Rowing Championships (PSRA,) the Stotesbury Cup Regatta and the Scholastic Rowing Association of America's (SRAA) national championships in Mercer, NJ in May. The two won a gold medal at the New Jersey State Championships in April. They have qualified for the US Rowing National Youth Invitational Championships in Cincinnati, OH in June. The freshman quad of Elizabeth Asch, Kaylah Kleczka, Natalie Webb and Madison Noteware won a gold medal at the Stotesbury Cup Regatta in May. The junior quad of juniors, Alison Callegari, Gabrielle Amundson and Alison Hoeltzel, and sophomore, Tess Candell, won bronze medals at the PSRA Championships and the SRAA Championships. The junior quad with Callegari, Hoeltzel, Candell and sophomore, Maddy Taggart, won a gold medal at the New Jersey State Championships. LACROSSE The Baldwin Lacrosse Team finished the season with a winning record of 18-4 overall and tying for second in the Inter-Academic League. The team outscored its opponents 322 to 206 and finished with a Pennsylvania state ranking of 12 and national ranking in the top 100 of 2,364 teams. Sloan Warren ’11 was one of eight finalists for the prestigious Heather Albert Award for the Most Outstanding Player in U.S. Lacrosse National Championship held in Bel Air, MD Memorial Day weekend. She played on the Upper Atlantic Squad, First Team that claimed the championship in the top flight of the Schoolgirls division. She scored six goals in the six games and was noted for her teamwork. VOLLEYBALL Kaylah Kleczka ’12 will compete at the 36th AAU Girls' Junior National Volleyball Championships at Disney's Wide World of Sports and the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando this June. She is a member of the Delaware Volleyball Under 15’s Open team. FIELD HOCKEY Nicole Wells ’12 has been selected to play for the Pennsylvania Team in the U. S. The NFC will be held at the USA Field Hockey Training Center in Virginia Beach, VA from June 24 to 28. She has been playing club indoor field hockey and on the USA Field Hockey Futures Program for three years. Brooke Simone ’11 will participate in the USA Field Hockey Regional Rumble, also held in Virginia Beach the same week. SQUASH Sami Shein ’11 placed third out of 28 players at the U.S. Junior Bronze Squash Championships held April 24 to 26. Alexa Horwitz ’15 won a bronze medal in the Girls U-13 division at the U.S. Squash Nationals in April. ARCHERY Anjalie Field ’11 placed first in the Pennsylvania State Archery Championship this winter. She also placed first in the region and eighth nationally in the Junior Olympic Archery Development (JOAD) Indoor National Championship. FALL SPORTS PRACTICE Mandatory practices for Upper School cross country, field hockey, soccer and tennis begin Aug. 24. Practice times are as follows: 8/24, 8/25, 8/26, 8/27, 8/28, 8/31 and 9/1: 8 to 11 a.m. 9/2 and 9/3: 3:45 to 6:45 p.m. 9/4: 8 to 11 a.m. No practice on Labor Day.
