On-Board Unit.
The TS3306 on-board unit is a lightweight and compact in-vehicle ITS station in the
PREMID® TS3300 series of on-board units, designed for ITS applications serving cooperative
road safety and traffic efficiency as well as for various international V2X pilot programs.
The TS3306 is designed for the 5.9 GHz V2V (vehicle-to-vehicle) and V2I (vehicle-to-
infrastructure) radio communications.
The TS3306 is a true aftermarket on-board
unit designed for fast and easy installation.
Attach to the front windshield, connect to the
vehicle power and it is ready to go in minutes.
Open standards.
TS3306 implements WAVE standards
including IEEE 802.11p, IEEE1609 (IEEE
1609.2, IEEE 1609.3, IEEE 1609.4, IEEE
1609.11) and SAE J2735. Compliance to
the emerging European standards acc.
ETSI ITS-G5 is currently in progress.
GPS positioning.
The built-in GPS receiver provides the
necessary positioning, velocity and time,
to enable location dependent co-operative
services.
User interface at hand.
LEDs and a built in buzzer provides
application feedback to the user and
informs about the current status of the
OBU. Additionally, the TS3306 on-board
unit can attach to a smartphone or a tablet
via Bluetooth wireless link. Road signage,
traveler advisories and warning indications
can be displayed and controlled by an
application running on the user interface
device.
Flexible interfaces.
Besides Bluetooth, the TS3306 also
supports USB and an optional CAN vehicle
interface which expand device versatility.
TS3306 is being tested in several field and
pilot tests. It is also targeted toward the
Austrian research project and FOT
“Testfeld Telematik” (telematics field test)
and the US DOT ASD requirements for the
Connected Vehicle Safety Pilot.
