6/23 Candela Corporation said that the Brazilian Ministry of Health has approved several of<br />

its products <strong>for</strong> marketing in Brazil. Candela's president and CEO Gerard Puorro, said,<br />

"Brazil is one of the world's largest markets <strong>for</strong> plastic surgery. We are optimistic that<br />

our leading edge products will be well received by the over 16,000 dermatologists and<br />

cosmetic surgeons who practice in Brazil." Candela's GentleLASE, ScleroPLUS and<br />

ALEXLAZR have all been approved, and shipments of demonstration units will begin<br />

immediately. In conjunction with its distribution partner, D.F. Vasconcellos S.A., the<br />

company will develop a launch plan that will address the unique financing hurdles faced<br />

by its customers to allow them to take full advantage of this opportunity.<br />

6/23 <strong>American</strong> Dental Technologies announced that it had retained Tucker Anthony-Cleary<br />

Gull to advise it in exploring strategic options to enhance shareholder value. "The<br />

company has not made any decision as to any specific alternative and there can not be<br />

any assurance that a transaction will result from this process," said Ben Gallant,<br />

president and CEO.<br />

6/23 According to Reuters, Singapore electronics and computer company Singatronics Ltd.<br />

said it plans to divest its shareholdings in Candela Corp. It said in a statement the<br />

proposed divestment was in conjunction with Candela's planned public offering of shares<br />

in the third quarter of this year.<br />

6/23 In a posting on the Yahoo message board, a chatter who had attended the Palomar<br />

Medical Technologies annual meeting said that Mark Smith and his Monterey people did<br />

not show, only a "hired gun" who wouldn't reply to any questions. The chatter went on<br />

to say that Dan Valente's presentation was "terrific" and that at least 5 analysts were in<br />

attendance. (So, perhaps, there will more coverage of the company?)<br />

A few days later, another chatter reported that nobody yet knows who will be running the<br />

company, as the official vote tally had not been completed. According to Palomar's<br />
