GENERAL INFORMATION<br />
Credit cards / Cash machines<br />
Credit cards are widely accepted in Gothenburg by numerous hotels, restaurants, shops and petrol<br />
stations. The accepted credit cards are indicated by their logos displayed on the exterior facade of the<br />
respective business (usually on the entrance door). Cash machines are easily available in most areas.<br />
Be prepared to present a picture ID when using a credit card.<br />
CSR - Policy and Organisation<br />
The Swedish Exhibition & Congress Centre's activities regarding sustainability (CSR work) are based on<br />
several commitments in the form of policies, memberships and programmes. The most important of<br />
these are:<br />
– The Swedish Exhibition & Congress Centre and Gothia Towers fulfil Svenska Equality's Accessibility<br />
<strong>Programme</strong> and are certified accordingly.<br />
– The Swedish Exhibition & Congress Centre uses the City of Gothenburg Environmental Management<br />
System, and our complex is environmentally certified. The City of Gothenburg Environmental<br />
Diploma was awarded in recognition of our environmental policy, goals and detailed action plans.<br />
The Swedish Exhibition & Congress Centre's buildings have been subject to an energy audit.<br />
– The Swedish Exhibition & Congress Centre's HR (personnel-related) policies include policies on<br />
equal opportunities, pay, leadership, safety, rehabilitation, alcohol, drugs, and discrimination.<br />
– Our membership of the international organisation MCI (Mind, Communities, Ideas,)<br />
www.mci-group.com/about.aspx, adds insight to the Swedish Exhibition & Congress Centre's CSR<br />
work.<br />

Currency<br />
The local currency is the Krona (pl. kronor). 1 Krona = 100 Öre. Approximate exchange rate: 1 EUR =<br />
9.35 SEK. Most banks, the manned ones, can exchange foreign currency. Credit cards are widely<br />
accepted in Sweden and the exchange rate is usually better than for cash or travellers cheques. It is<br />
advisable to find out what the commission is before proceeding with the transaction.<br />
Customs<br />
T<strong>here</strong> are no limitations on the amount of foreign currency that can be brought into the country. The<br />
following items may be imported into Sweden without incurring customs duty: 200 cigarettes or 100<br />
cigarillos or 50 cigars or 250g of tobacco; 1l spirits over 22 per cent or 2l fortified or sparkling wine,<br />
2l wine and 32l beer; a reasonable quantity of perfume; gifts up to a value of SKr 1 700. Travellers<br />
must be over 18 years of age to import any cigarettes or tobacco products; and over 20 years of age<br />
to import any alcoholic beverages. These regulations are strictly enforced.<br />

Electricity<br />
Sweden has 230-volt AC, 50Hz current. Visitors will need an adaptor for<br />
electric appliances, w<strong>here</strong>as North Americans need a transformer in<br />
order to use their 110/125V appliances.<br />
Language<br />
Swedish is the official language in Sweden. English is common in hotels and tourist places and also<br />
spoken by most of the inhabitants.
