The Mount Horeb/
Barneveld wrestling
season takes off.
The participants from Barneveld
include senior, LJ Dickson and
juniors, Sam Moyer and Keller
Kirch. When asked how he thinks
the season will go, Sam replied, “I
think we’ll have a good season. We
have a strong team and will make it
far.” The Viking’s first tournament
is on December 1 st at Blackhawk.
Their first match is on Tuesday,
December 4 th at Reedsburg. Good
luck to the boys on their season!

Once again the
Veteran’s Day
Program was a
success. This year every age group
was involved. The elementary
classes, middle school choir, and
high school choir sang, “This is My
Country” arranged by Tom Scott.
Also the Badger girl and Badger
boys spoke about their time up at
Badger State. YourBbadger girl this
year was Tayler Bowser and your
Badger boys were Tyler Owens and
Andrew Hummel. Also every year
there is a special guest speaker that
comes and talks about Veteran’s
Day. This year the guest speaker
was Greg Simonis, who is the Vice
Chairman, Assistant Department
Chaplain of the American Legion
State of Wisconsin. We would
like to thank all that have or
are serving for this country!
Vikings Make
History, But Fall
Short of State

On Saturday, the
Vikings took the long
trip to Kettle Moraine
to play Catholic Memorial in the
Division 3 Level 4 Playoff game. The
Vikings were pumped up and ready
to go, but started out a little slow
letting Catholic Memorial score
21 points in the first half and the
Vikings only scoring 7. MHB didn’t
want to give up, but started to
fade in the second half with letting
Catholic Memorial score 14 more
points, making the final score to be
35-7. Tyler Owens, Dustin Hodgson,
Carson Carmody, Tyler Hellenbrand,
and Daniel Flannery are the players
that come from Barneveld. These
boys will miss playing with their
friends form Mt. Horeb. Especially
Tyler Owens and Daniel Flannery,
with them being seniors this year.
We would like to congratulate the
MHB football team with ending
their season with a 10-2-0 record.
MHB made history this year by
making it to the state-semifinal.

One Team
One Dream

This basketball season for
the girls should be an
exciting one. This year
the returning players are senior
Madi Laudi, juniors McKenzie
Sporle, Hailey Kleppe Samantha
Evans, and sophomore Rachael
Slaney. New players for the team
are juniors Danielle Straubhaar,
Kristen Udelhofen, Kaitlyn Walker
Cayla Carden, sophomore Maggie
Oimoen, and freshman Hannah
Whitish. This year coach Jimmy
Meyers expects a lot from the team
and sees them going far with their
season. Since the team this year is
lacking in height, their goal is to be
fast and outrun their competition.
This year the conference favorite
are the Eagles because of the
conference title last season. Good
luck to the Eagles this season and
bring back another conference title.

The Barneveld boys’
basketball team is
ready to roll this
season. Andrew Hummel, Tyler
Owens, and Devon Schult are the
three seniors playing this season
and are all returning letter winners.
Dustin Hodgson and Jeremy Whitish
are the two junior letter winners
returning along with sophomore
Hunter Whitish. “This is going to be
a fun season with our new coaching
staff and new offense,” states
senior Tyler Owens. This season
the varsity has a new head coach,
Mike Whitish. Brandon Halverson is
also joining the staff as the varsity
assistant coach. The JV coaching staff
includes head coach Tyler Sullivan
and assistant coach Dan Doescher.
Senior Devon Schult stated, “I
expect our team to be aggressive
and to win conference.” This year’s
conference favorites are picked to
be Juda, Monticello, and Barneveld.
There are high expectations for this
year’s boys’ basketball team. Good
luck to the boys and their season!

Devon Schult has been part
of the Barneveld community
all his life. He has attended
Barneveld School since preschool.
Devon plays varsity baseball and
varsity basketball. He prefers
baseball over basketball but he loves
both sports. His favorite memory
during high school was making it to
state baseball during his sophomore
year. Devon’s best friends are Nick
Gonzo and Cody Williams. He
loved going to volleyball games
with Cody and Nick to support the
girls. Devon’s favorite class is gym
and his favorite teacher was Mrs.
Wagner. Most of Devon’s hobbies
include playing video games,
watching girls’ sports, and going
out for chicken wings every week
with his friends. Devon wants to go
to MATC and hasn’t decided what
he wants to major in yet. Good luck
to Devon in college and his future.

HOME GAME EVENTS
This season, the girls’ basketball “More Than A Game” (PINK night) will be held on Thursday, February 7 th versus
Argyle. The motto this season is “Tough Enough To Wear PINK”! The apparel is black with neon pink lettering and the
superman logo on the front (you can check them out at school). We will place orders for apparel on Friday, November
30 th (available December 7 th ) and Friday, December 14 th (available December 21 st ). To place an order for apparel you
pick up an order form at school (office and commons) or contact Renee Meyer at 924-4711 X400 or 608-574-7274.

Three snowmen will be available for bidding at 5pm.
bids close at the end of the 3 rd quarter. the highest
bidder on each snowman can purchase it after the
game.

We will host a bake sale before, during and after
the game! Apparel and event items for sale plus
“last call” to order apparel.

� Live Auction
We will have a post-game gathering serving
refreshments and snacks. At 7pm we will have a live
auction of various items donated to the event. all
fans, families and community members are invited.
items will include (but not limited to): Quilt,
art work, gift certificates, big screen tv, Badger
game tickets and more!

Jaden Goninen, a 4 th grader at Pecatonica Elementary school, was recently diagnosed with a stage 4 cancer. He is
currently receiving chemotherapy and radiation after having surgery. We want our communities to come together,
Barneveld and Pecatonica, to help Jaden and his family during this time!

• Each school will have a container that will hold the change brought in by their fans.
• The team with the most change at the end of the night will win “Bragging Rights”
• One kicker is…dollar bills in your container will take the tally backwards (so bring some ones
to off-set that change in your opponents bucket)
• ALL OF THE MONEY COLLECTED will go to Jaden Goninen of
Blanchardville
