Eagles Barely Win
Over The Orioles
By: Cayla Carden
Edited By: Kaitlyn Walker
On Saturday night, the Barneveld Lady Eagles
played the Argyle Orioles in a make-up game from
the previous Thursday. With it being Pink Night and
having all the fun and outstanding activities going
on, the girls were ready to get the win on the court.
The game started out very slow and Argyle was
determined from the beginning to stay in the game
and have a chance at winning. With the score being
11-10 Barneveld winning at the end of the first half,
the Orioles knew that they were still in it. But coming
out of the locker room, the Eagles were determined
that they needed to get some points and get ahead.
With outscoring Argyle by 10 in the second half, the
final score came out to be 41-30 Barneveld won.
Rachel Slaney was the top scorer of the night with
24 points and McKenzie Sporle followed her with
6. Slaney also lead the team in rebounds with 11,
and Hailey Kleppe contributed with 5 more. Hannah
Whitish had 7 steals and Rachel Slaney came out with
6. Good luck to the Lady Eagles in their next game.
Black Hawk Takes the Win
By: Cierra Crawfis
Edited by: Kaitlyn Walker
The Barneveld Boys’ basketball team
traveled down to Black Hawk School for the big
game. This game is to determine if they take
second in conference or tie with Monticello for
second. The first time Barneveld played Black
Hawk they lost by 2 points at Barneveld; making
the game more important. Barneveld leads
the first quarter only by one point, 12-11. Still
leading in the second quarter until Black Hawk
pulls ahead by three in the third. Jeremy Whitish
being the top scorer had 14 points, including
three three’s. Devon Schult pulls right behind
Jeremy having 12 points with two three’s. This
putting Barneveld to score 14 points in the 4 th
quarter, Black Hawk scoring 15 points. Barneveld
playing at their hardest wasn’t able to pull out
the win. Barneveld ends the game losing by 4
points, 47-43 Black Hawk. This having Barneveld
tying for second with one conference game left.
Edited by Cayla Carden
Bridget Olsen has been attending
Barneveld School since she was in pre-school
and now she is finally a senior and can’t wait
to graduate. Next year she will be attending
either Chippewa Valley Tech in Eau Claire or
Northeast Technical College in Green Bay and
will be majoring as an Ultrasound Technician.
She spends most of her free time working at
Culver’s or doing random and crazy stuff with
her best friends Liz Arneson, Brooke Eno,
and Heather Evans. She also enjoys going to
basketball games and cheering at the top of her
lungs when the time comes to be super loud.
Some of her favorite memories from being in
high school are winning game night two years
in a row, finally having homecoming week, her
first homecoming dance, and junior prom. She
said she was most excited about game night
because the Class of 2013 has always been the
underdogs when it comes to class challenges,
so it was a great excitement when her class won
game night back-to-back years. When asked
about her first homecoming dance, she said,
“Any excuse for me to wear heels and a pretty
dress is always exciting for me.” The homecoming
dance was also exciting for her because she’s
never had a school dance in October before;
usually there isn’t a dance until the Winter Ball
in January. Her loud personality and fast acting
leadership skills will be missed next year, but
everyone wishes her the best in her future.
Parent/Teacher
Conferences
P/T conferences for high
school teachers will run a little
differently on February 25 th .
The high school teachers will
hold their conferences in their
rooms; this will allow teachers
to work on other projects when
not holding a conference and
also allows for more private
conferences. Conferences are
scheduled from 11:00-7:00, with
a few exceptions. Ms. Singer will
be here from 12:00-4:00 and Mr.
Elfering and Mr. Neuroth will
be available from 11:00-4:00.
Last week the Flyer advisor goofed and put the
wrong picture in for Kaila, this is one of her
senior photos.

Eagle’s defeat from Wildcats
By: Dustin Scott
Edited by: Kylie Johnson
This looked like a tough game for Eagles.
We unfortunately did not have the highest
scoring player of the game but we did the best
we could. Sullivan one of the top three highest
scorers of the game had a pretty good run with
a total of 12 points. The highest scoring player
was Woods for the Wildcats with an amazing
17 points. Also for the Wildcats second highest
scoring player was Hegstrom with 12 points total.
We did well at getting those 3- point shots, a total
of 7- 3 point shots. Wildcats had 5. It seemed
that the Wildcats attacked the hoop more that
shot for 3. Eagles: Sullivan and H. Whitish both
had two, three point shots. Good Job. Wildcats:
Hegstrom had three, three point shots. We
need to attack the hoop just a little more. But
you all did your best. This is only a little dip and
next game lest bring our A game and make up
for this loss with an amazing win. Keep it up.
Team First
By: Sandra Bertelli
On February 12 th , MHB wrestling team went
to Milton for their first team sectional against
Badger. It was a very exciting and close meet.
MHB started out with a loss by 11-6, but
continued the meet with six wins in a row by
Sam Kruse, Klayton Krantz, Daylon Bowar,
Matt Blome, Tristian Luther and Quinn Faust.
Badger answered with six wins back, where
two of them were pins, and MHB made scored
a win of 7-6 in the very end by Ryan Crum.
With the result being just as many wins,
Badger had two pins, thus got more points.
The final score was 29-23, but congratulations
to MHB for wrestling in their first sectional
meet as a team. This was a team effort, as
every single team point made a difference.
