#2: The Affair
he was writing a love letter in the shape of his stare. the way a wolves’ hand falls on her
shoulder like brief confetti. in the wolfbed he reached for the lowerside of her chin, she
felt a tug. a sound like a cloud being polished, the wolf unzipped her chest, skin bunched
around her waist like a parachute after descent. underneath was something soft and
downey like fur, or the hair on a mans back.
#3: The Family Business
“I was a guardian angel bright and white, i was young again and when people looked at
me i looked young to them. When i pooed it came out in round symmetrical balls like
rabbit scat. People in togas spread it upon vast gardens where old men and old women
were being grown in rows. Their cries were distant as rain on a piano.
The soil was as soft as milk, and wolves in grey moved from old plant to the next
watering and feeding them. As the plants matured the old became adults then teenagers
then infants, which shriveled into seeds. The wolves then packaged the seeds and sold
them as birthcontrol pills at the back of the 7/11.”

#4: Halloween
will impart flowers on the hill where flames have flourished as a cash crop. night
collapses over the trees like parched cowhide. the wolves transcend danger in darkness.
between trees i stand so still i pretend i am in a photograph. the farmers mangled remains
look like a sandcastle caught between a wave and a red sunset. flashlights uncovered her,
blood laced between her teeth, she was picking up bones and making a circle. she tried
shoving her creased skin into their hands, but they laughed. i heard later one cop still puts
on her skin and dances while another cop pretends to make a sexual pass by kissing her
on the jaw.
