What courses should I take?
• STUDY WHAT YOU ARE GOOD AT
• LOVE the courses you choose
• Take 100-level courses in 1 st year
• You must have 70% in 12U prerequisites (e.g. BIO152H5)
16
Understanding the Calendar
• Prerequisite: a course required as preparation for a higher level course. Any
prerequisite listed must be passed (completed) before a course is taken
• Corequisite: a course to be taken concurrently with (at the same time as)
another course. A corequisite must be taken together with the course if the
corequisite has not already been taken and passed
• Exclusion: a course with content too similar to another for credit to be given
to both. A student will not receive degree credit for a course that is listed as an
exclusion of a course in which he/she has obtained a passing grade.
• P.I. means you can seek permission of the instructor or department to take a
course, if you do not meet the course condition
• Comma (,) or semicolon (;) means “and”
• Slash (/) means “or”
17
Pre-enrolled courses
• Registration Guide: Pages 15 & 16
• Selected based on your offer of admission
• Courses will lead to programs
How many courses to take?
20 credits = 5.0 credits/year (4 years)
Or
20 credits = 4.0 in Fall/Winter + 1.0 in Summer
REMEMBER as you choose your course load:
• No more than 12 hours/week of employment
• Consider your commitments – home, family, work
19
Full-time vs. Part-time
