County Jail on assault charges.
We’ll get you coming or going….
Officers responded to a local hotel and executed a search warrant on a hotel room for
drugs and associated paraphernalia. The occupant of the room was not present when
the warrant was executed. Later that day, hotel staff called the police and stated the
occupant returned and was attempting to gain access to his room. The suspect was
located by officers and found to be in possession of narcotics and drug paraphernalia.
He was transported to the Dakota County Jail.
You’re supposed to protect your kids….
On February 5th, officers overheard the State Patrol dispatch a road and driving complaint involving
a taxi cab that was “all over the road.” Officer Rezny located the vehicle and initiated a traffic
stop. The driver was determined to be under the influence of alcohol and had a blood alcohol
concentration exceeding .20. In the cab was the suspect’s unrestrained eight-year old son sitting
in the backseat of the taxi. The driver was arrested and taken into custody. His vehicle was towed
where it will be held for forfeiture. The suspect was jailed and the child was released to his
mother.
What did the tree do to you….
On February 6th, officers responded to Diamond Drive in regards to a hit and
run accident. They arrived and discovered property damage in the front of a
home. Witnesses stated they saw a truck hit a tree, roll over, drive away and
then park in a driveway down the street. Officers located the vehicle approximately
two blocks from the scene with considerable damage. Police made
contact with the driver of the vehicle, and through further investigation, discovered
he was intoxicated. The suspect resisted arrest and fought with officers
until compliance was gained through the use of a Taser. He was taken into
custody for related charges and driven to the Dakota County Jail.
Home wreckers…..
Officers were dispatched to a local apartment complex on the report of a deer that broke
through an apartment window and was locked in the bathroom. Officers arrived and discovered
two deer were in the courtyard of the apartment complex when they attempted
to crash through various windows on the apartment building. One deer ran off, but the
other broke through a window of an apartment, toured the inside, then left through the
broken window. Once outside, the deer broke another window and entered that apartment
too. The apartment residents quickly got the deer cornered and locked in the bath-

guide the deer out of the apartment by strategically placing bed mattresses throughout the
home. The deer left through the same window and ran off into the woods never to be seen
Making a bad day worse…..
On February 14th, while on routine patrol, Officer Harrell initiated a traffic
stop where the driver had a cancelled driver’s license. While the driver
was looking for his insurance information, the vehicle began to roll backwards.
The car rolled approximately 10-15 feet and struck Officer Harrell’s
parked squad car. When Officer Harrell asked the driver if he could “feel”
the car rolling, the driver stated “no”. The suspect was issued citations
for no insurance and driving with a cancelled driver’s license. There was
little damage to the vehicles.
You look like your sister, but you aren’t her…..
While driving through the city on February 14th, Detective Maier observed
a vehicle parked in a fire lane at a local retail outlet. In performing records
checks on the car, he discovered it was recently involved in criminal activity
in West St. Paul. Detective Maier made contact with the driver and
informed her of the fire lane violation. When he asked for her driver’s license,
she stated it was suspended. Through further investigation, he discovered
she had given him a false name as she had three outstanding arrest warrants. She was
taken into custody and jailed for the warrants, false information to a police officer, driving after
suspension, and no proof of insurance.
You know better, and running won’t help…..
On February 17th, Sergeant Speakman was patrolling the parking lot of a local
hotel and discovered a vehicle owned by a person who was subjected to a
court order. More specifically, the owner was previously a suspect in a domestic
dispute where the victim obtained a “no contact order” from the court. Essentially,
the order prohibited the owner of the vehicle from having any contact
with the victim in the domestic. In checking with hotel management, the victim of the no contact
order was registered as a guest. Moments later, Sergeant Speakman observed the suspect and
victim leave the hotel together. Upon seeing Sergeant Speakman, they fled into the hotel and
back to their room. Speakman made contact with the victim who attempted to convince officers
the suspect wasn’t there. Further investigation revealed the suspect was hiding under a table
within the victim’s room. The man was arrested and taken into custody for violating the court
order and fleeing police on foot.
What are you doing here…..
On February 18th, officers were dispatched to a local apartment complex
in regards to an accident that occurred in the parking lot. Upon arrival, a
man “flagged” officers down and wanted to know what they were doing
at the apartment complex. He was extremely agitated and officers detected
an extremely strong odor of an alcoholic beverage along with other
obvious signs of intoxication. The man explained he hit a parked vehicle
due to ice on the road. Officers asked the suspect to perform field sobriety
tests which he refused. Upon searching the vehicle, police discovered an open bottle of
vodka along with assorted drug paraphernalia. Ultimately, the man was arrested and taken to
the police department. Later, he was transported to the Dakota County Jail on alcohol related
charges.
A very observant teller…..
On February 18th, officers were dispatched to a local bank regarding a person
who was trying to pass a fraudulent check. They arrived and discovered
a woman attempting to pass a check that was stolen from Lakeville.
Through further investigation, officers discovered the suspect altered the
amount on the check to $1200. She was taken into custody and charged
with felony check fraud and transported to the Dakota County Jail.

If I’m in trouble, I might as well enjoy it…..
On February 18th, officers were dispatched to a local apartment complex regarding a
disturbance. They arrived and heard loud music coming from an apartment. After
speaking with the occupants, it was determined everyone inside was consuming alcohol
and were underage. Many of the partygoers were issued citations and released to
parents or other responsible adults. However, one suspect who was 18 years old, continued
to drink beer in front of officers. After he became disorderly, he was taken into
custody and driven to the Dakota County Jail with related charges.
A mess of bad choices…..
On February 21st, while on routine patrol, officers observed a man running from the front
doors of a local business and get into a car. Police personnel were advised by store employees
that the man had just stolen items from their store. Officers stopped the car where an investigation
uncovered stolen property from the establishment. In addition, police also discovered
“burglary tools,” stolen merchandise from other businesses, drugs, and associated paraphernalia.
Three people were in the vehicle and all were arrested and taken to the Eagan Police
Department. Two were later transported to the Dakota County Jail where they are expected to
be charged with theft, possession of burglary tools, driving after revocation, and drug related
violations. One of the suspects was released from the police department.
We don’t recommend this…..
On February 23rd, police responded to a home on Sapphire Point regarding a domestic
situation where a woman wanted her child's father to leave the residence.
Officers were familiar with each of the parties and knew the man has been living at
the residence. The woman was intoxicated, and when told the police had no authority
to remove the male party, she became upset. After she attempted to hit the
man with a beer bottle while officers were present, she was arrested for 5th degree
domestic assault and transported to the Dakota County Jail.
Don’t flatter yourself……
On February 26th, while on routine patrol, Sergeant Myhre located a vehicle
on Pilot Knob Road registering to a 33 year old woman who had two outstanding
arrest warrants. Although the owner was not driving the car, Sergeant
Myhre believed she was a passenger sitting in the backseat of the vehicle.
Officers made contact with the occupants and spoke with the suspect.
Knowing she had active warrants, the woman attempted to identify herself as
her 16 year old daughter. Unfortunately, it didn’t work and she was arrested
for providing false information to police officers and the two outstanding warrants.
She was driven to the Dakota County Jail.
