On May 1st, <strong>of</strong>ficers were called to a home on Cedar Lane regarding a male<br />

pounding on the residents door demanding to be let inside. As <strong>of</strong>ficers approached<br />

the residence, the male fled on foot. He was quickly apprehended and<br />

taken into custody. While speaking with the suspect, he provided two fictitious<br />

names to police and was in possession <strong>of</strong> a fake identification card with an additional<br />

false name. Through investigation, it was discovered the suspect had a<br />

blood alcohol level <strong>of</strong> .22, a revoked drivers license, and two outstanding warrants.<br />

He was taken to the Dakota County Jail.<br />

We did our part….<br />

On May 1st, <strong>of</strong>ficers received information from the Missoula County Sheriff’s Office, located in<br />

Western Montana, that a fugitive with an active arrest warrant was possibly working at a business<br />

in <strong>Eagan</strong>. Based upon this information, <strong>of</strong>ficers went to the business and located the suspect. He<br />

was taken into custody without incident and was taken to the Dakota County Jail. The suspect<br />

was wanted for embezzlement.<br />

Not you again…..<br />

On May 2nd, <strong>of</strong>ficers responded to a local apartment complex regarding an intoxicated/disorderly<br />

woman. They arrived and located an adult female who is well known to police staff. On many previous<br />

occasions, <strong>of</strong>ficers have met her due to repeated acts <strong>of</strong> bad behavior. Once again, the suspect<br />

was causing problems for other residents in the complex, and through investigation, it was<br />

discovered she had an outstanding warrant for her arrest. Officers took her into custody and<br />

brought her to the Dakota County Jail.<br />

Nice work by <strong>of</strong>ficers, but not a nice guy….<br />

On May 3rd, police responded to a report <strong>of</strong> an armed robbery that<br />

was occurring at a local apartment complex. A male suspect approached<br />

an apartment dweller who was smoking a cigarette on his<br />

first floor patio. The suspect pointed a gun at the victim and fled after<br />

obtaining a credit card. While <strong>of</strong>ficers were responding to the scene,<br />

a second armed robbery was reported in the same area. During this<br />

incident, the victim was “pistol whipped” by the suspect. <strong>Police</strong> established<br />

a perimeter to contain the suspect. Detective Schultz was helping<br />

secure the area when he was approached by the suspect. It was believed the suspect was<br />

intending on robbing Detective Schultz! Schultz identified himself as a police <strong>of</strong>ficer and told the<br />

suspect he was under arrest. The man fled on foot, but was quickly apprehended by Detective<br />

Schultz. Both victims were able to positively identify the suspect as the one responsible for the<br />

robberies. In the man’s possession was the credit card stolen from the first victim. Additionally, a<br />

pellet pistol used in the robberies was located by a police canine after the suspect threw it as he<br />

was running from Detective Schultz. The man was later taken to the Dakota County Jail.

We know your hiding spots…<br />

On May 5th, while on routine patrol, Officer Thul observed a vehicle speeding on Cedar<br />

Avenue. He initiated a traffic stop and made contact with the driver. In speaking with the<br />

subject, Officer Thul detected an alcoholic odor emanating from within the car. The suspect<br />

stated she had had “a couple” drinks earlier in the evening yet had bloodshot and<br />

watery eyes. A drug recognition expert with the Minnesota State Patrol, evaluated the<br />

suspect and discovered she was under the influence <strong>of</strong> a controlled substance. The lady was taken<br />

into custody, and while conducting an inventory search, <strong>of</strong>ficers located marijuana, drug paraphernalia,<br />

and a small vial connected to the suspect’s keychain that contained miscellaneous pills.<br />

She was arrested for Driving Under the Influence (DUI) and taken into custody.<br />

Let your ex go or we will take you away…..<br />

On May 6th, <strong>of</strong>ficers were called to a home on Crossroad Court regarding an unwanted party. Officers<br />

arrived and discovered the female resident was arguing with her ex-boyfriend and wanted him<br />

to leave. It was discovered the male had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. He was taken into<br />

custody and driven to the Dakota County Jail.<br />

Can’t drive a scooter either…..<br />

Too drunk to find my dog…..<br />

On May 15th, <strong>of</strong>ficers responded to a local restaurant regarding an intoxicated male<br />

that was attempting to leave on a scooter. While in the area, police located the suspect<br />

several blocks away lying on the ground next to the scooter. Investigation revealed<br />

the man was involved in a crash. He submitted to field sobriety tests and<br />

was arrested for DUI. He was later transported to the Dakota County Jail.<br />

On May 17th, <strong>Eagan</strong> <strong>Police</strong> responded to a motor vehicle accident on Wescott Road where one<br />

vehicle rolled over onto its ro<strong>of</strong>. When <strong>of</strong>ficers arrived, they discovered the driver <strong>of</strong> the rolled vehicle<br />

was walking down the road looking for her dog. Investigation revealed<br />

she was intoxicated. The driver <strong>of</strong> another vehicle involved in<br />

the crash explained he was driving eastbound when he looked in his<br />

rearview mirror and saw the lady’s vehicle accelerating towards him at<br />

a high rate <strong>of</strong> speed. Before he could swerve out <strong>of</strong> the way, the<br />

woman’s vehicle rammed his vehicle from behind, and put his car into<br />

a spin. At the same time, the suspect’s vehicle rolled. Witnesses to the<br />

incident corroborated the victim’s story. The victim sustained minor<br />

injuries, and was transported to the hospital. The suspect was subsequently<br />

arrested and was transported to the Dakota County Jail and is<br />

expected to be charged with DUI and criminal vehicular operation.<br />

Two’s a crowd....<br />

On May 18th, while on routine patrol, Officer Thul arrested an individual for DUI and was taking the<br />

suspect to the <strong>Eagan</strong> <strong>Police</strong> Department for processing. On the way, Thul observed a vehicle driving<br />

in the wrong lane on Blackhawk Road. Thul stopped the car where investigation revealed the<br />

second driver was also intoxicated. The man was also taken into custody for DUI and later released<br />

pending charges.<br />

Where’s mom or dad…..<br />

On May 19, <strong>of</strong>ficers responded to Jade Lane on the report <strong>of</strong> two individuals breaking<br />

into vehicles. They arrived and located the suspects who were inside a vehicle<br />

and were “rummaging around.” <strong>Police</strong> made contact with the suspects and discovered<br />

they were intoxicated and underage. Both were arrested and taken into custody<br />

for tampering with a motor vehicle and minor consumption.<br />

You’d be surprised what people will tell ya……<br />

On May 23rd, police stopped a vehicle that showed the registered owner possessed a revoked<br />

driver’s license. Upon making contact with the other occupants <strong>of</strong> the vehicle, all were acting suspiciously<br />

and were extremely nervous speaking with <strong>of</strong>ficers. Officers asked if they were using any<br />

sort <strong>of</strong> controlled substance. All admitted they were. Further investigation revealed the driver was<br />

in possession <strong>of</strong> marijuana and the passenger was in possession <strong>of</strong> a syringe containing heroin.<br />

Both are expected to be charged for drug possession.

Leaving on a jet plane….<br />

Thanks for being up-front….<br />

On May 23rd, <strong>Eagan</strong> <strong>Police</strong> Officers received a phone call from a United<br />

States Marshall, based in Orlando, Florida. It was conveyed an individual<br />

with a nationwide arrest warrant for “battery by strangulation” was staying at<br />

a hotel in <strong>Eagan</strong>. Officers checked the hotel and discovered there was a<br />

guest registered with the name given by the U.S. Marshall. Ultimately, police<br />

arrested the fugitive where he was transported to the Dakota County Jail<br />

awaiting extradition.<br />

On May 24th, Officer Ryan stopped a vehicle because its headlight was unlit.<br />

Upon making contact with the driver, the man stated he was unaware <strong>of</strong> the violation.<br />

Officer Ryan asked for identification where he admitted his driver’s license<br />

may not be valid. The man added he may possess an outstanding arrest warrant<br />

too. Records checks revealed the suspect had a suspended driver’s license and<br />

two arrest warrants. Ultimately, the guy was cited for driving after suspension and<br />

jailed for the warrants.<br />

A safe ending to a scary situation…..<br />

On May 26th, during a heavy rainstorm, a motorist called in a road and driving complaint regarding<br />

a vehicle that was “all over the road”. The caller reported witnessing another vehicle driving <strong>of</strong>f the<br />

roadway onto sidewalks and had hit two light poles. Officers were initially unable to locate the vehicle,<br />

but a second caller phoned about the same vehicle and reported the suspect vehicle left the<br />

road and crashed into a ditch. <strong>Police</strong> responded and discovered the driver was having a diabetic<br />

reaction where he lost control <strong>of</strong> his vehicle. Fortunately, nobody was injured.<br />

A happy reunion…..<br />

On May 28th, <strong>of</strong>ficers were called to a local apartment complex regarding an<br />

unclothed two-year old boy walking around the parking lot all by himself. <strong>Police</strong><br />

arrived and attempted to locate the boy’s family. They canvassed the building,<br />

asking residents if they recognized the toddler. Officers located a resident who<br />

had seen the child earlier outside an apartment on the first floor. They knocked<br />

on the apartment door and didn’t get an answer. After the police announced<br />

themselves, an adult male answered the door and stated he was not missing a<br />

child. However, after a brief conversation, the man realized his son had simply unlocked the apartment’s<br />

door and left. The two were happily reunited!<br />
