Eagan Police Blue Blotter
A Periodic Publication Describing Police Activity in Eagan
The Mission of the Eagan Police Department is to work in partnership with the community to arrest
offenders, prevent crime, solve on-going problems, and improve the overall quality of life in Eagan...
Thank goodness for the barrier…..
On January 1st, Officer Pederson was on her way to a call when she observed
a vehicle in the ditch near the intersection of 35E and Cliff Road.
By the time she turned around to render assistance, the car was gone.
She searched the immediate area and quickly located the vehicle on
Blackhawk Road over 35E. Officer Pederson noted the suspect drove
onto the sidewalk along Blackhawk Road where it ultimately struck the
cement barrier on the bridge over 35E. Fortunately, the barrier kept the
vehicle from falling onto the interstate. The driver fail field sobriety testing
and was discovered to have a blood alcohol level of .247. He was arrested and taken into custody
for Driving Under the Influence (DUI) of alcohol.
You can’t put your hands on someone else…..
On January 6th, officers responded to a local housing complex regarding a fight between a male
and female. They arrived and observed each had wounds on their faces. Both maintained
“nothing happened”, but a witness came forward and explained both had been aggressive and
were involved in a mutual assault. They were arrested and transported to Dakota County Jail for
5th degree domestic assault. The male was also cited for minor consumption.
We’ll help you keep your appointment…..
On January 7th, while on routine patrol, Officer Moseng stopped a vehicle for an
equipment violation. Through investigation, it was determined the driver of the
vehicle had a suspended license where it was noted he failed to appear in court
on six occasions. He was taken into custody and jailed.
The value of relationships…..
On January 9th, while on patrol, officers made contact with employees at a local hotel. Staff told
officers they were suspicious of a current guest who had people constantly coming and going
from his room. In addition, the man would pay for his room one night at a time—in cash. He had
been at the hotel for over one month and would occasionally rent a second room where he would
pay daily in cash too. Through investigation, it was discovered the guest used a fictitious address
on his hotel registration, and when officers went to the suspect’s room, they discovered methamphetamine.
The man was released pending formal complaint for possession of narcotics.
You’re not welcome in Eagan…..
On January 9th, Eagan Officers heard Apple Valley Police were looking
for a vehicle involved in the theft of merchandise from a store. Dispatchers
aired the car’s license plate number along with a detailed description.
Officer Rezny spotted the vehicle on Highway 77 and stopped
it. Four occupants were taken into custody and turned over to the Apple
Valley Police Department. Located in the car was stolen merchandise,
and one person possessed a check that was taken during a car jacking in St. Paul.

All guilty of something…..
On January 12th, officers stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. When speaking with the driver,
it was discovered she didn’t have a valid driver's license, and could not provide proof of insurance
for her car. Further investigation revealed a passenger in the vehicle also had an outstanding
Washington County arrest warrant for criminal damage to property. Both the driver and passenger
were arrested and taken to the Dakota County Jail.
Give me your name one more time....
On January 16th, while on patrol, officers stopped a vehicle for an equipment
violation. Officer Moseng made contact with the driver and asked
for identification. The driver provided identification that was questionable
whereupon it was learned the driver was lying about his identity. Upon
positive identification, police determined the suspect had an active arrest
warrant from Goodhue County. Moreover, further investigation revealed
the man was in possession of stolen property, and was driving
with a revoked driver’s license. The suspect was arrested and transported
to the Dakota County Jail for false information to police, driving after revocation, possession
of stolen property, possessing a stolen license plate, no proof of insurance, and having a
faulty exhaust system on his vehicle.
We found him….
On January 16th, officers were dispatched to a local apartment complex to a
check the welfare of an individual who had not shown up for work that day.
Based upon an employers request, officers visited the apartment and did
not locate the man. Several hours later, a family member contacted Eagan
Police concerned about his welfare as they had not heard from him either.
Through investigation, it was discovered the guy was in the Scott County Jail
and being held on DUI charges.
This is for real…..
On January 18th, officers were called to a home on Wescott Square regarding a physical altercation
between two adult men. They arrived and discovered the two were arguing over a missing
video game. A fight ensued resulting in one man biting off the tip of the other’s left index finger.
Immediately afterwards, the suspect chased the victim with a knife until the injured man was able
to spray a fire extinguisher into the suspect’s face. The suspect was arrested for two counts of
assault and transported to the Dakota County Jail. The victim was taken to the hospital and
treated for his injuries.
I’ll turn on my lights, but I am going home…..
On January 20th at approximately 11:00 pm, Officer Boekhoff observed a vehicle on Rahncliff
Court without any headlights illuminated. He drove behind the vehicle to
initiate a traffic stop and noticed the driver turning on the car’s headlights.
Officers attempted to pull the vehicle over, however, the suspect
continued to drive another one and one-half miles until he reached his
home where he pulled into his garage. Officers made contact with the
suspect and could immediately smell an alcoholic odor. Field testing
showed an initial blood alcohol level of .124 where the suspect began
resisting arrest. Ultimately, he was arrested for fleeing a police officer in
motor vehicle, DUI, obstructing a legal process, and driving without headlights.
What’cha doing……
On January 20th, officers were at a local hotel looking for a guest who had an outstanding arrest
warrant. They were unable to locate the suspect, but while at the hotel, noticed a suspicious vehicle
parked in front. The vehicle was occupied by one male where officers engaged him in conversation.
Through investigation, officers discovered the man came to the hotel to meet a prostitute.
After officers located the woman, she along with the man were taken into custody. Both are expected
to be charged.

The fire lane will get you every single time…..
On January 25th, while on routine patrol, Sergeant Collins located a vehicle parked
in a fire lane at a local retail outlet. Upon making contact with the driver, Collins
discovered the man provided a fictitious name because he had a revoked driver’s
license. A record’s check revealed the suspect had a history of providing false information
to police officers and was arrested for driving after revocation on previous
occasions. The man was jailed for providing false information to police, and driving
after cancellation.
You’re not that old..Where do you find the time to get into so much trouble?
On January 25th, HealthEast Paramedics called 911 to report a vehicle
parked in the middle of Galaxie Avenue. They reported seeing an adult
male “slumped over” in the vehicle. Officers arrived and made contact with
the driver. Immediately, they could smell an alcoholic odor coming from
inside the vehicle and could see a bottle of whiskey perched on the seat
next to the suspect. The man admitted to driving his vehicle and consuming
alcohol. He was taken into custody and arrested for DUI, liquor possession
by persons under the age of 21, open bottle, driving after revocation, and
for two outstanding arrest warrants. A record’s check also confirmed two prior DUI’s in 2011. He
had an initial blood alcohol level of .159.
“This was stupid, I did it”….
On January 25th, officers responded to a theft in progress occurring at a local retail outlet. They
arrived and discovered the suspect fled in a vehicle. Moments later, Officer Ondrey located the
suspect on 35E and initiated a traffic stop. He made contact with the suspect who immediately
stated, “This was stupid, I did it.” The suspect was arrested and taken into custody, and a record’s
check confirmed he was driving without a valid driver’s license. The suspect was cited for
misdemeanor theft, driving after suspension, no proof of insurance and trespassing.
Forget something in your haste?……
On January 26th, officers were dispatched to the area of Cliff and Rahncliff
Roads for a traffic accident. They arrived and discovered a vehicle hit a semaphore
and fled the scene and noted a headlight from the suspect vehicle was left at the scene. A
short time later, a male suspect along with his vehicle were located nearby. The vehicle had damage
which coincided with the damage to the semaphore. Additionally, the headlight located at the
crash scene belonged on the suspect vehicle. The driver was arrested for DUI, hit and run, driving
after revocation, and possessing drug paraphernalia.
You are not nice people……..
On January 31st, while on routine patrol, Officer Boekhoff attempted to stop a
vehicle (occupied by multiple people) for a semaphore violation. The vehicle
took-off, and a short pursuit ensued. When the car stopped, one person got out
and complied with officers. The driver of the vehicle, along with another occupant
“bailed” and fled on foot. While running from police, the driver dropped a
magazine loaded with .40 caliber ammunition. Ultimately, both were located and arrested by
Eagan Police. A Bloomington K-9 arrived to help search for additional evidence and located a .40
caliber handgun. The driver was arrested and jailed for fleeing police in a motor vehicle, felon in
possession of firearm, possession of marijuana in motor vehicle, possession of drug paraphernalia,
fleeing police on foot, driving after revocation, and failure to obey a semaphore. The passenger
that ran was arrested for fleeing on foot. The suspects all had lengthy criminal histories.
