DEAR FRIENDS,
Thank you for having the courage to help us take on one of the toughest problems facing our country today — domestic
violence. Eastside Domestic Violence Program (EDVP) has completed an extremely challenging and triumphant year. With
your ongoing partnership EDVP is stronger, more resilient and better able to provide life-saving domestic violence services
to thousands of families and children in need. You play an integral role in our success.
EDVP has effectively implemented creative, cutting-edge programs that provide critical human services to victims of
domestic violence when they need them the most. We are focused on providing improved, longer-lasting solutions to
ending domestic violence by:
• Advancing transformative work, programs and leadership to prevent abuse before it happens.
• Working to protect, educate and empower victims to build lives free from domestic violence.
• Providing a continuum of comprehensive life-saving programs and supportive services for survivors and their
children as they work their way through homelessness, legal issues and ongoing barriers to independence.
In this Annual Report we hope to convey in words and numbers our ongoing commitment and dedication to victims and
families that live with domestic violence. They are struggling to put food on the table, keep a roof overhead and provide
safety for their children.
In 2010, the need for our life-saving services increased dramatically. It was a difficult economic year and we saw a dramatic
rise in poverty, mental health issues, homelessness and domestic violence. As resources decreased across the country, the
request for basic needs continued to grow. EDVP continues to provide a continuum of basic services and comprehensive
programs to everyone, including the most vulnerable and those without hope.
For 29 years EDVP programs and services have been extremely successful in supporting survivors as they move from
domestic violence and homelessness to self-sufficiency. We continue to listen to the voices of the clients we serve —
including the poor and marginalized — in order to provide the essential services they need so that their lives are no longer
defined by domestic violence.
Thank you for all you do to help us achieve our mission and solve one of our
country’s toughest challenges. Your ongoing support gives us the power
to provide life-saving services, end the cycle of domestic violence and
homelessness and transform lives. Together we can truly change the world.
