Company Profile
Company History
EPM was established in 1972 with the aim of
supplying the electronics industry with advanced
automated soldering equipment capable of virtually
defect-free soldering of PCBs and subassemblies.
The name given to the new company described
the type of products it planned to market – EPM
stands for "Electronic Production Machines".
EPM has grown steadily into what it is today – a
strong, stable, healthy and forward-looking
player in a very tough sector of the market, confidently
maintaining its position and its customer focus for over 35 years.
EPM employs approx. 40 people, including production workers. The company is financed
from its own resources, which enables it to operate independent of any banks. Share capital
is 1.25 million Swiss francs.

EPM soldering machines are based on the True Modular System (TMS). In other words, they
are built on a modular principle with modules that are upwardly or downwardly compatible
depending on the soldering task and are available as carrier or finger conveyors with a variety
of wave soldering systems and flux applications.
The range of automated soldering machines covers a wide variety of sizes. The company
builds machines for sampling and for very small production runs, right up to complex soldering
systems for high-speed volume production.

It is remarkable how the company has managed to stay at the forefront of technological developments
ever since it first began. The very first tabletop soldering machine, the HD 327,

was ahead of its time. Today it has achieved almost legendary status and is still in use with a
number of customers.
The robot soldering machine developed in the 1990s was also highly advanced. Coming right
up to date, the Duplex CIG highspeed soldering machine is the world's first fully automatic
soldering machine that works in an inert atmosphere and is able to handle leadbased and
lead-free alloys at the same time.
Services
EPM offers a wide range of consulting services on all aspects of soldering. The availability of
these services is often a key criterion for customers endeavouring to choose the right soldering
process. The company’s consultants begin by exploring the customer’s processes and
offering advice on the appropriate soldering tools. The service does not end when the soldering
system is in place, however. Maintenance, a comprehensive training package, and regular
trial soldering for potential customers in the company's competence centre, all enhance
and complement the service offering.
Sales
The company sells directly as well as through a carefully selected network of partners. EPM
is listed by all major electronic manufacturers as an OEM partner.
To meet the needs of its international customer base, EPM works with a network of specialist
partners throughout the world. There are partners in Asia, Australia, Europe and the USA.
Sales in Switzerland are handled directly at corporate headquarters in Geroldswil.
Target group
EPM does business with customers of all sizes, although the main focus is on medium and
large international manufacturers of high quality electronic equipment, printed circuit boards
and sub-assemblies.
EPM soldering machines and systems are not sector-specific, most are used in the automotive,
aerospace, medical technology and consumer electronics industries.
Customers include companies like Bizerba, Blaupunkt, Continental, EPIC, Linde, Mettler-
Toledo, Philips, Sagem, Sitronic, Temic and VDO, to mention just a few.
Philosophy
EPM places prime importance on its company’s strong customer focus, on transparent business
relationships and on the integrity of the employees, which form the bond of trust between
the customers and business partners.
