On October 11-13, a visiting team from MNSAA (Minnesota Non-
Public School Accreditation Association) assessed the school by
examining our self-study documents, verifying reports, comparing
indicators of compliance with accreditation standards, interviewing
teachers and school administrators, and observing the school in action
for several days. They randomly chose parents to call and interview,
plus visited with parishioners. After the October visit, the team will
recommend accreditation status to the respective agencies’ governing
board. Thank you to all who helped to make the visit a success!

Ervin Fischer, 82, passed away on July 21, 2011. He is survived by his wife Marian and their children, Allen (Carol) Fischer (’69),
Kelvin (Judy) Fischer (’71), Nancy Fischer (’75), and Beverly Hoffmann (’74).
Dianne (Steffl) Kienlen, 67, died on August 20, 2011. She graduated from St. Mary’s in 1961. She is survived by her husband Fred
and their children Jeff (Erika) Kienlen, Pat (Dawn) Kienlen, Carol (Rich) Weikle, Kathy (Pat ‘80) Sellner, and Mary (Tony) Klick.
Anthony Hauser, 56, died on August 25, 2011. He graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1973. He is survived by his wife
Colleen and their children MaryAnn, Jennifer, Daniel, David, Gregory, Catherine, Joseph, Elizabeth, and Julia.
John Robert Syverson, passed away September 1, 2011. He is a 1962 graduate of St. Mary's High School. He is survived by his
wife Frances Virgil Syverson and three daughters, Amy Wanger, Lisa Vigil and Sarah Syverson.
Roman Hillesheim, 89, died on September 5, 2011. He is survived by his sons Jerome (Nancy) Hillesheim (’62), Paul (Laurie
Braulick ‘79) Hillesheim (’72), Richard (Jill) Hillesheim (’73), John Hillesheim, Phil (Winnie) Hillesheim, Robert Hillesheim,
Roman Jr. (Carolyn) Hillesheim, and his daughters Rita (Tom) Christoffel (64), Kathy (Chuck ‘63) Krzmarzick (’65), Marlene
(Doug ‘67) Pelzel (’68), Annette (Gary ‘70) Braun (’71), Jeanne (Tom) Guldager, and Lori (Dan ‘74) Braun.
Jack Welle, 3 days old, passed away on September 12, 2011. He is survived by his parents Jona and Lisa (Moldaschel ‘98) Welle
and his twin brother Roger.
Albert “Spin” Schroepfer, 99, died on October 10, 2011. A 1931 graduate of St. Mary’s Catholic School, he is survived by his
sons, Gary (’59), Thomas, and John.
Madeline (Buysse) Brandel, 86, passed away on October 12, 2011. She is survived by her husband, Marcus and her daughters Ruth
Ann Brandel, Arlene (Ron) Dietl, and Bonnie Brandel and her sons David (Karen) Brandel, Bill Brandel, and Mark Brandel.
Verna (Braulick) Sturm, 85, died on October 17, 2011. She is survived by her daughters, Barb (David) Guhlke (’70), Mary (Gary
’71) Krueger (’76), and Monica (Michael) Wistrand (’80).
Linus S. Krzmarzick, 92, died on October 18, 2011. Linus is survived by his children, Mary (Rick) Fischer (’71), Lori (Mike)
Braun (’76), Tony (Sally) Krzmarzick (’62), Ron (Janette Zuhlsdorf ’65) Krzmarzick (’64), Gary (Marlene) Krzmarzick (’66), Mark
(Suzanne Tauer ’75) Krzmarzick (’73), and John G. Krzmarzick (’77).
Helen Schmitz, 84, died on October 20, 2011. She is survived by her brothers E. Peter (Rita) Schmitz (’42) and James Schmitz
(’39).
Irene (Spaeth) Fischer, 87, died on October 30, 2011. She is survived by her children: Jim (JoAnne) Fischer (’66), Carol (Jerry)
Waibel (’67), Dan (Deb) Fischer (’68), Kathy Morris (’70), JoAnn (Kurt) Eischen (’72), Larry (Debra Mages ‘79) Fischer (’76) and
Donna (Kevin) Dewanz (’81).
Alyce (Krzmarzick) Schumacher, 85, died on November 4. 2011. She graduated from St. Mary’s Catholic School in 1944. She is
survived by her children: Marlene (Clay) Engman, Karen (Ron) Kauffmann, Loren (Gean) Schumacher, Lyle (Meri) Schumacher,
Diane (Frank) Samlaska, and Susan (Dan) Alleven.
Michael G. Tauer, 73, died November 4, 2011. He graduated from St. Mary’s Catholic High School in Sleepy Eye in 1956. He is
survived by his wife, Sandra and their children, Darren (MaryJo) Tauer and Sharla (Bruce) Norlander.
