WHY?<br />
Although paint adheres well to dust, the dust does not adhere to the steel<br />
surface.<br />
This results in poor adhesion of the coating and thus sensitivity to mechanical<br />
impact and peeling of the coating causing early corrosion.<br />
CORRECTIVE ACTIONS:<br />
Areas insufficiently cleaned must be recleaned with clean compressed air.<br />
In confined spaces use vacuum cleaning<br />
PREVENTIVE ACTIONS:<br />
Instruct operators of proper dedusting requirement, i.e. set standard.<br />
Evaluate if working conditions (light, access) are still suitable for the<br />
work.<br />
HOW TO DETECT:<br />
Visual and by touch.<br />
A piece of white cloth.<br />
Tape Test. This test normally will show some residues. The amount<br />
acceptable must be agreed upon on beforehand.<br />
