Repainting all substrates<br />

Maintaining coatings helps the protection, appearance and<br />

value of your boat. Both two component and single component<br />

finishes need repainting. How often varies from boat to boat,<br />

depending on the existing paint system, usage, general wear<br />

and tear, mooring conditions and UV degradation.<br />

Above the waterline<br />

If the existing coating is intact<br />

• Wash with Pre-Clean and freshwater<br />

to remove surface contamination.<br />

• Allow to dry fully.<br />

• Abrade with 180–280 grade paper.<br />

• Freshwater rinse and allow to dry.<br />

• Apply undercoat where necessary,<br />

followed by 1–2 coats of topcoat, using<br />

the relevant painting specifications.<br />

Where the coatings are damaged<br />

You may need to fill and prime first.<br />

• Degrease the surface thoroughly with<br />

Pre-Clean or Degreaser (depending<br />

on substrate).<br />

• Abrade with 100–240 grade paper.<br />

• Freshwater wash and allow to dry.<br />

• Spot prime and fill where needed,<br />

using appropriate materials.<br />

• Fair areas that have been filled.<br />

• Apply primer, undercoat and topcoat<br />

using relevant painting specification<br />

Please remember 2 component products<br />

should not be applied to any single pack<br />

system.<br />
