The entire route is approx. 300 km but you can also choose shorter stretches. Take the boat from <strong>Nynäshamn</strong> to Ålö and from there cycle to Utö. The route is nine kilometres and takes you through striking typical archipelago nature. Nynäsleden (Nynäs route) Nynäsleden is a marked bicycle route between <strong>Nynäshamn</strong> and Stockholm. If you don’t want to cycle the whole way you can take the bike on the commuter train. Photo: Heidi Ekberg Vårdkaseberget (8-12 metres high) offers good climbing at all levels of difficulty. There is a magnificent view over the bay Himmerfjärden from the top of the rock. Grönbrinksberget is approximately 20-25 metres high and offers slightly more difficult climbing, although there are some easier passages. The best time to climb here is in the early summer before the vegetation becomes too dense. Fullbroberget offers easier climbing where the rock has a gentler gradient, about 70 degrees. CROSS-COUNTRY SKIING Fjättern <strong>Nynäshamn</strong> Tracks on 5, 6, 10 and 15 km and one illuminated track (2.5 km) situated south of the lake. You can turn the lights on by yourself - there is a notice board at the rock called Torö Sten near where you park your car. Körunda Ösmo Körunda offers tracks on the golf course near Lake Muskan. The tracks are between 1 and 3.5 km. Start at the gates or the hotel. Lövhagens friluftsområde <strong>Nynäshamn</strong> At Lövhagen there are no pre-made tracks but it is a very popular area in a scenic environment close to the water. Start at Lövhagen’s youth hostel. Sunnerby Sorunda Sunnerby has an illuminated ski track on 2.5 km which can be extended up to 10 km when there is a lot of snow. Set off from Väggarö road in Sunnerby. BIRD wATChINg Våtmark Alhagen (wetland) <strong>Nynäshamn</strong> The rich environments of the wetlands attract many ducks, waders and small birds. In the spring, big flocks of waders rest in the area. Mallards, teals and shovelers also look for food here. If you are lucky, you may see a marsh harrier glide over the area. Sea ducks, common sandpipers and long-tailed tits thrive here. The rare lesser spotted woodpecker can also be found here. The big deciduous trees that have been flooded by the wetlands have been left in place to help the woodpecker. The island is also good for Eastern rarities from across the sea. Birds from the south and southeast are discovered by Landsort before all the other islands in the archipelago, due in part to the lighthouse and pilot lookout. Nowadays, bird banding is carried out mainly around the bird station by Bredmar and during some periods around the lighthouse on the southern promontory. Common species include greylag, Canada goose, whooper, wood sandpiper, long-eared owl and crane.
