Sistematización de la experiencia “Fortalecimiento organizacional y empoderamiento local”
Abstract
The experience related with the empowering processes of Allpahuayo –
Mishana National Reserve local communities is presented in this document.
Local and sustainable management renewable natural resources, which are the
population main subsistence means, are the objective of the project. In
community assemblies, the communities developed proposals and agreements
about implementation of activities for sustainable management of natural
resources. We had continuous communication with community leaders and
representatives. We had also a coordinated work with other key stakeholders,
by means of participatory methodologies and provision of precise and clear
information about project objectives. We have assessed that community
participation, since the first stages of project design, is very important for its
success and for the community empowering. It is very important to build
capacities taking advantage and strengthening the local institutions and
mechanisms, without building parallel structures only sustainable during project
life. All our actions respected local culture and practices, population decisions
and community agreements. A key issue was the territory property rights.
BIODAMAZ project has supported the process initiated by Nanay project in
2001; 13 communities of Nanay basin related with RNAM has been officially
recognized as “comunidades campesinas”, and eight of them are pretty close to
obtain the property title over the traditional territory. The communities involved
in this process are: San Martín, Tres Unidos (Yuto, El Porvenir y 15 de Abril)
Samito, Lagunas, Yarina y Libertad.
