weather from the meteorological station from Barrié <strong>de</strong> la Maza Dock's<br />

headland and the emission Control station from the San Diego Dock can<br />

A channel of special importance is the Outer Port's virtual information<br />

office. http://www.puerto<strong>de</strong>latlantico.com/. From this website, one can<br />

consult information on the building works' <strong>de</strong>velopment at the Outer Port,<br />

as well as the synthesis document on the Study into Environmental<br />

impact and information on the creation of an interpretation centre which<br />

has information on the natural and cultural patrimony of the area as well<br />

as the operation of port facilities. There is also a facility to solicit specific<br />

information on issues relating to the port.<br />

Additionally, there is an information area available at the Port<br />

Authority relating to the advancement of works and additional information<br />

about the Outer Port.<br />

Other important mechanisms for participation are the Client’s Forum<br />

which celebrated its third edition in 2008, and the clients' opinion polls.<br />

Additionally, there have been 142 press releases to the media, so<br />

that they act as intermediaries between the port and its interest groups,<br />

and can transmit information in a transparent and concise manner. The<br />

press releases focussed mainly on economic activity, management of<br />

sustainability and the outer port.<br />

On the issue of social responsibility, the Port Authority has portrayed<br />

its management focus and achievements during 2008 through its<br />

current sustainability report which is in its second edition. The first edition<br />

of the sustainability report of A <strong>Coruña</strong>'s Port Authority, in line with<br />

the exercise of 2007, was the first published by a port authority in Spain,<br />

obtaining the highest gra<strong>de</strong> (A +), from the Global Reporting Initiative,<br />

marking a milestone in responsible business management in the sector.<br />

The report was presented to the port community on the 25th November<br />

2008, as well as in the Forum of Large Clients mentioned above on 6th November 2008. At the same time, the Annual Report was published<br />

and went into <strong>de</strong>pth in communicating the port's economic performance.<br />

The Committee for Corporate Social Responsibility mentioned above,<br />

has, since its inception in January 2007, un<strong>de</strong>rtaken a <strong>de</strong>tailed analysis<br />

of the different groups of interest that should be targeted, <strong>de</strong>veloping ini-<br />
