Tras el estreno en 1957 de El último cuplé, este
género musical ha estado inseparablemente
unido al nombre de Sara Montiel. Ella contribuyó
a recuperar y popularizar unas canciones que, en
muchos casos, estaban casi olvidadas. La reina del
cuplé es un homenaje a esta artista recientemente
fallecida. Tres excelentes cantantes de hoy y una
magnífica actriz se encuentran en un espectáculo
creado por Pedro Víllora, escritor a su vez de las
conocidas memorias de la estrella, Vivir es un
placer. Entre todos recuerdan a ese singular mito
del cine que fue la insustituible Sara Montiel: su
vida, su tiempo, su trabajo, su arte, su música.
After the premiere in 1957 of El último cuplé, this
musical genre has been inseparable from the name
of Sara Montiel. She contributed to bringing back
and popularising some songs which, in many cases,
had almost been forgotten. La reina del cuplé is
a tribute to this artist who we have recently lost.
Three of today’s top singers and a magnificent
actress meet in a show created by Pedro Víllora,
the writer of the star’s well-known memoires, Vivir
es un placer (Living is a pleasure). Amongst them
all they remember this singular film legend, the
irreplaceable Sara Montiel: her life, her times, her
work, her art and her music.
