Resumen.

El objetivo principal de la presente investigación es determinar si la condena y la edad de los sujetos en estudio
inciden, conjuntamente, en los niveles de optimismo e impulsividad de éstos. La muestra estuvo conformada por 127
sujetos que cumplen condena efectiva, de sexo masculino, que fueron divididos en 2 grupos: primerizos (es decir,
primera condena legal efectiva) y reincidentes (personas con más de una condena legal efectiva). Los instrumentos
utilizados fueron la escala impulsividad de Barrat (BIS -11) y el Test de Orientación para la vida en su versión
revisada (LOT-R). Se concluye que se aprueba parcialmente una de las hipótesis del presente estudio, a entender, los
sujetos reincidentes (más de una condena en distintos penales)son más impulsivos en acción (subescala motora) que
los primerizos (reos sin detención ni condenas previas); en cuanto a las otras dos subescalas del BIS 11 (imprevisión
y cognitiva) los resultados muestran que no hay diferencias estadísticamente significativas. En relación al
optimismo, no se apreciaron diferencias significativas entre los grupos, ubicándose la muestra en un nivel promedio
de optimismo disposicional.

Abstract.
The main objective of this research is to determine whether the conviction and the age of the subjects under study
affect jointly in levels of optimism and impulsiveness of these. The sample consisted of 127 individuals serving
sentences effectively, males were divided into 2 groups: first-(effective legal first conviction) and recidivists (those
with more effective legal condemnation). The instruments used were the Barratt Impulsiveness Scale (BIS -11) and
the Test of Life Orientation as revised (LOT-R). We conclude that partially adopted one of the hypotheses of this
study, understand, repeat subjects (more than a sentence in different prisons) are more impulsive in action (motor
subscale) that the first-(defendants without prior convictions or arrest); in the other two subscales of BIS 11
(foresight and cognitive) results show no statistically significant differences. In relation to optimism, no significant
differences between groups, placing the sample at an average level of dispositional optimism.
