Off­to­camp...
with­the­third­graders!!!!!
Plan a mission to the unknown. It took us one hour and a half to
get to Camp San Gabriel in Los Laureles.
I say this is a mission, because this is a whole new adventure for
all the students and parents who for the first time were separated
for three whole days.
Finally, departure day. A quick last-minute check to the list:
sunscreen, bug spray, ear drops, toothbrush, etc. Be strong to
overcome new challenges and try to have the best of it.
With great expectations and surrounded by lush vegetation we
started our mission; cheerleading contest, sharing ideas, a little
rehearsing and ready for the competition. Some showing shyness,
others a little nervousness, lots of emotions that led us to
a great mood and to clap and cheer for the first place.

with your friends? I bet that with all of the excitement you must
have gone to sleep very late and this time wasn’t the exception.
The adobe, wooden cabins were checked for order and
neatness twice a day. Laughs, whispers, shouts and voices were
constantly heard from all of the cabins. Teams were always trying
to be on time to start activities like: rappel, arch and bow,
target shooting, bicycle riding, climbing and games at the pool.
At night all gathered around a bonfire, listening to a thrilling
story made our day a complete, exciting one. The restaurant
was the favorite place to sing camp songs and to share meals
with our teammates. These moments are unforgettable, these
are the steps for independence to prove ourselves that we can
be risk-takers and conquer our fears with our best attitude.
